Big 12 signs new TV deal with ESPN and FOX

This B12 deal will expire and be re-negotiated before the ACC gets a change to re-negotiate our current deal. We are going to be left behind quicky

There is an article in the daily articles for today from HokieMark that says ESPN took care to ensure that their new deal with the B12 will keep them behind the ACC in terms of revenue.

ESPN is also expected to do this with the P12.

Not sure if that will hold up when the B12 contract expires in 2030 but it looks like for now, the ACC will be #3.

I don't see how this makes much cents for the B12. Does Gonzaga BBall alone move the payout needle? And make up for traveling way out of the way?

You would think that adding 2-4 from Fresno State, San Diego State, Boise State, Memphis, USF would be better for the league. Heck you can argue that UNLV, Tulane, Temple, and UConn add more value.

Unless by adding Gonzaga you also convince St Johns, Nova, and GTown to join, I don't get the appeal.

By adding Gonzaga, the Big12 would be by far the best basketball conference in the west if not the country. This might induce Arizona, who sees themselves as a basketball blueblood, to make the move from the PAC, especially after the PAC lost UCLA. If Arizona makes the move, ASU, Utah and CU will follow and the Big12 will be at least co-equal with the ACC.
