You ain't seen nothing yet kiddies

"Tickets for the Orange’s seven remaining home games are going fast."

But can we capture the top attendance crown?

Mike Waters

So I guess relying on Tickermaster for an indication of seats sold really is a bad idea. According to the article, there are 6,000 seats left for the UConn game. Ticketmaster shows only about 3,500 left, if that.

Ha that's my background for my phone
That was in a March 2011 article at SI regarding the top 15 basketball arena's in America. They had SU listed 10th!

10th?? That's crazy, when full it should be top 3.

We found that out during football. You can't use Ticketmaster to determine attendance.

It may surprise many here to learn that average attendance per game is down this year - even with our #1 ranking. That is because of the lousy attendance in the first two games. By the end of the year hopefully we will be ahead.

I expect another strong showing on Wednesday at Villanova. We really have the best fans in America.

I look forward to seeing the inevitable thread bitching about our fans on the opponent's message board after the game.

I expect a poor turnout on Thursday.

no it isn't . . . I think you must be comparing last year's full season average to this season's partial total. That's a mistake because the biggest games came later in both seasons.

If my math is correct:
Through 13 home games this year, the Orange have drawn 282,088 fans
Through 13 home games last year, the Orange drew 261, 635 fans

I knew that, but I didn't know that it's not even close.

Here are the numbers as I calculated them.

First, we have had 11 home games. I am not counting the exhibition games. Attendance thru first 11 games this year has been 203,674. Attendance thru first 11 games 2010-11 was 214,239. Attendance thru first 11 games 2009-10 was 209,866. Source: Official SU site, using Box Score data.

actually, we are both wrong.

There have been 12 home games this year.

But, I am correct that attendance is up

Through 12 games this year: 252,088
Through 12 games last year: 237,297

My source is the SUAD statistical summaries.

Here is 2010-11

We are almost like the Yankees of college basketball. If I'm not watching the screen during a Yankee away game it sounds like they are in Yankee stadium. Just love the support our fans give SU in away venues, it's really special.

Your number for 2011-12 is wrong. I missed the Colgate game, so it should be 12 games. Here are the revised numbers thru 12 games.

2009-10 - 228.569
2010-11 - 237,297
2011-12 - 224,758

We are down so far this year.

Just picked up two tickets for the Louisville game. I'll be taking my mom to what could be my last SU game at the Dome for a long while. (Applied to PhD programs on the west coast for next fall.)

That game should be PACKED. Last game of the season. Senior day. Louisville. Wow.

Looks like Moqui's number of 252,088 is dead on.

"Syracuse’s attendance is already running ahead of recent years.
The Carrier Dome’s average attendance through the season’s first 12 home games is at 21,007."

Just got back home and checked the numbers. You are correct and I am wrong. My number for this year included the two exhibition games and did not have the two SEC challenge games. Thinking they were in MSG.

So attendance is up 6.2%. Apologize for the confusion and thanks for catching it moqui.

Glad to see that worked out peacefully. I thought Moqui was going to have to tell you he is 6'9" and 392 pounds.

The way I'd describe us is as locusts overrunning opposing arenas.
