Big crowds on horizon for Syracuse basketball games at Carrier Dome

The way I'd describe us is as locusts overrunning opposing arenas.
I'd be interested in seeing the attendance numbers for SU road games, compared to the average home attendance for those opponents. And also the maximum attendance games (or #2 if the SU game is #1).

Not so interested that I'm willing to do the legwork to look it up and post it though. Anyone else?

Not sure how deeply I'd like to delve into this, but the attendance for Providence's home games has been 8,500; 8,100; 12,200; 6,600; 5,200; 8,100; 5,000; 5,200; 4,400; 6,100; and 6,600.

Big bump for the #1 team.

Without the SU game averaged in, Providence gets 6380 a game. We bumped that up by 5820 and had 3700 more there than their next largest crowd of 8,500. I wonder how many of the 12,200 were SU fans? Anyone who was there care to venture a guess?

Otto Mets nice job!

Who else wants to breakdown another road opponent, oh wait we have only played two other road games, NC State and DePaul anyone else care to do those breakdowns not including exhibition games?

We are almost like the Yankees of college basketball. If I'm not watching the screen during a Yankee away game it sounds like they are in Yankee stadium. Just love the support our fans give SU in away venues, it's really special.

If this were college football we'd be in a BCS bowl every year regardless of our record.

It would be awesome if SUAD (or someone capable) could put together a video showing clips of our fans dominating other arenas. Just audible LGO, or huge cheers, videos of our fans leaving/entering arenas, crowd shots of huge sections of Orange.

One of my favorite showings of Cuse fanpower was when Tobias Harris had the balls to announce going to Tennessee down the road from MSG before we played. Announced to a packed house of all Cuse fans, got booed, and had to give his interview in an empty room lol.

Here's a list I pulled from an NC State thread somewhere:

November 11 UNC-Asheville 12,441
November 13 Morehead State 10,082
November 16 Princeton 12,140
November 25 Elon (Reynolds) 7,316 (remodel capacity 8,560)
November 30 Indiana 16,597
December 11 NC Central (Reynolds) 4,018
December 17 Syracuse 19,400
December 22 Northeastern 11,652
December 29 Campbell 7,734 (Reynolds)
December 31 Western Carolina 13,429
January 4 Delaware State 10,159
January 8 Maryland 18,057

Without the SU game or the Reynolds games averaged in, NC State gets 13,070 a game. We beat that by 6,330 and had 1,343 more there than their next largest crowd of 18,057 for conference rival Maryland.

This is a great thread, hope someone remembers to do this at the end of the season. So far 2 for 2 in making a case for, SU is to college basketball what the NY Yankees are to pro baseball. I imagine Duke, UNC, OSU and a few others have a similar effect on away attendance. That would be a great angle for a story by Parrish, Goodman et al

I think the big difference is, teams like Duke and UNC bring out more home fans, we bring our own.
