Big East Basketball Onlys Concerned With BE Direction

I like the idea of keeping it Catholic-only, and adding Xavier, St. Louis, Creighton, Butler, and Dayton.

There are so many possibilities:

Pre-game prayer session
Eucharist at halftime
Confession of sins committed during the game
Tithing at the concession stands
Play for the Pope's Cup
I don't think Butler is a Catholic college.

And how about a Bingo Night before the BET semis??

So who in a Catholic conference would participate in LAX? Would they have enough teams for an auto-bid?
G'town, St. John's, Providence, Nova, Marquette (will join the BE lax league this year). Add an associate member (like Loyola for the women's lax league) and voila!

There will be a 30 for 30 about this in 15 years called "When the Big East was the baddest man in town..." or something like that. Seriously, the best hoops conference in the country destroyed by in fighting, and agendas." It's sad, but they did this to themselves.

People seem to forget that from the early 90's to the early 2000's the Big East was nowhere near tbe best conference in the country with the exception of 1996 (Iverson, Allen, Kittles and Wallace led teams). It was only after the initial teams left for the ACC (and the CUSA Raid) that the Big East started to rise to the top again at the end of the decade. But the 90's were generally not a great decade for the conference. Of course it rose again in the 2000's after the first ACC raid (and the CUSA raid)

Schools like Dayton, Creighton, Xavier, Butler, St. Louis are real solid basketball schools with very good attendance figures. Others to consider would be UMass, WichitA State, Richmond, VCU and a few others. Say what you will, but add SJU, Georgetown, Nova and the others to that group and the bball league would be quite strong top to bottom, even without any football schools.

The league would be mostly Catholic not by design but by necessity. Most of the Catholic schools don't have the state funding nor land that many of the BcS schools have. It just seems to be working out that many of the smaller non-football schools are Catholic.
