We are now over 60% free throw shooting as a team, and have skyrocketed from dead last nationally to 362 out of 365.

Good to hear we are working hard on FTs at practice. We will need every last point when we get into tough games again. And I like the point others have made about how trans can play extra hard on D vs us because there’s no fear of putting us on the stripe.

It's been ridiculously bad but let's be real, we looked like we might lose again at the line but we did just enough.

how can my 50 something year old fat ass shoot better ft than a D1 college athlete. and before you doubt me, i drained 70 in a row before. and im fat and unathletic.

Looked at the 3 pt shooting percentages, Betsy and Starling aren't crazy great but they're both at 35% which is fine.

George, Kingz, and Kiyan are all below 30%.

George, I don't know. He probably needs to be a little more selective. We don't need step backs. Just take in rhythm jumpers.

Kingz makes it harder on himself. Lots of twisting and drifting on some of his shots. Some of that is we could make it easier by getting him the ball in better position, but some of it seems to just be his thing. There should be upside if he cleans that up.

KIyan is a freshman so I never count on those to make a great percentage, but he takes too many from really deep and probably just needs to be more selective. I don't think it's bad that he looks for his shot, and it definitely sets up his drive, which is solid, but he probably just lets it fly from deep a little too often.

Can you rebound too? Maybe there is a spot for you!

Ha! This is one of the great mysteries of Cuse basketball. It drives me crazy how many poor FT shooting teams we have had.

Field goal % and Free throw % were equal at 48%. Just a little better than 3 pt % of 43%.

FT shooting may be the most preventable straw that breaks Red's contract. Details matter.

We’ve already lost two games (arguably three) because of missed free throws. It’s maddening that Red dismissed the concerns when asked about it after the first few games.

Sorry, friends. It was fun while it lasted. We are back under 60% and dead last again.

Edit: we are tied for dead last with Liberty. But we don't have the luxury of blaming Satan for bad free throw shooting like they do.

It's maddening, but every coach of every team that's ever been bad at FT shooting tries to downplay it. And that makes sense. For most, it's a mental thing that gets worse when you focus on it.

Except reports out of practice from the players themselves say that they are, in fact, working on it. And honestly, with many of our guys it ain't just mental. Their form stinks too.

Meanwhile, despite a good game last night, we're 308th in three point shooting percentage. Woo.
You'd have to think that's going to get worse too, as we see better athletes and defensive teams than the Stonehills and Mercyhursts of the world

Or with generally less margin shot selection improves (one can hope)

Makes sense to work on it, less sense to talk about it.

You couldn't be more right about form, at least for Kyle. They should make him shoot with one hand tied behind his back!

JJ's form is awful, but I think it's a mental problem in his case.

What baffles me is that Kiyan and Betsey and Kingz all have very smooth and natural shooting strokes, but they're all in the 50s at the line. It's like some type of mental contagion has spread throughout our roster. I've never seen anything like this before in my ~35 years watching SU hoops.

See? There’s your problem.

Those of us who watched Cuse hoops in the 80’s have most definitely seen this movie before.

Although, as with many sequels, this is waaay worse.
