With all the concern about big plays here's some data.

In three games has run 225 plays and has had 8 plays of 20 yds or more (3.6%). All of them were against either NCCU or Ohio. They have another 35 between 10 and 20 yards (15.6%).

SU in four games has run 245 plays and has 19 plays of 20 yds or more (7.8%), 4 vs Wake, 5 vs URI, 4 vs USC, and 6 vs Toledo. SU has had 27 plays between 10 and 20 yds (11%).

In three games opponents have run 174 plays and Rutgers has given up 16 plays of 20 yds or more (9.2%) and another 17 between 10 and 20 (9.8%).

In four games SU opponents have run 300 plays and has given up 16 plays of 20 yds or more (5.3%) and another 40 between 10 and 20 (13.3%).

When you look at this take into account the schedules, UNCC, Ohio, UNC vs URI, Toledo, Wake, USC.

Amazed by the difference in number of plays run against each team. Or 3rd down defense is killing us there and obviously they've benefitted greatly from opponents turnovers.

We've got a pretty simple goal... hold on to the ball.

Go whats your thoughts on defending RU from a secondary position. If the injury situation holds were not gettign to the QB like we were in the first two years of Scott Schafer. Do we need to all out blitz somemore or do we need to go with a bend but not break 7-8 guys in coverage.

There are others here who can give a more informed answer but my guess is that it depends on score, time, and FP.

So far this year Rutgers has one TD drive of more than 70 yds and one that ended in a FG. They also haven't had many explosive plays. What that tells me is that SU avoiding TO's on it's side of the field and Fisher could be the keys to the game.
