...he indicates that 'Cuse needs Melo back to help with defense and to keep the proper roles of its depth; otherwise 'Cuse must play small in middle...it remains obvious that Bilas likes the Orange:
2. Syracuse Orange

Without Fab Melo in the middle, Syracuse is vulnerable on the glass and in the paint. Still, after its loss at Notre Dame, Syracuse was able to get wins over Cincinnati and West Virginia (despite being outrebounded by 20). The Orange average 19.5 points per game in transition, and get 29 percent of their scoring off of turnovers. Melo's absence makes Syracuse smaller in the middle, and it affects overall depth and roles. But the Cuse bench is averaging 35 points per game, the most among power conference teams in the past 15 years. Make no mistake, though: Syracuse needs Melo back to truly contend.

I think that will be the majority vote this week.

I'm expecting us to be #2 in both polls this week.

Why would we leap over Ohio State in the "other" poll? I don't see it happening as much as I would like to, I also don't think it should at this point. I believe we shouldn't have been behind them after our FIRST loss, but after that has been done, we are where we are.

It was stupid to be behind them to begin with. They also lost on the road, against an unranked team (Illinois). Plus they have two other losses on top of that (vs the two best teams they played who are ranked but still losses are losses). That was insane that they jumped us.

Well Ohio State was only 1 point ahead of us so its not like we would have to influence many coaches to jump them.

We beat 2 likely tournament teams, 1 on the road, without fab. Thats a more impressive week than ohio state, no matter how "ugly" the wins were. I think we jump them

Agree with many above that we end up #2 in both polls ... especially if we get Melo back ... I think that would be where we belong
