Happened to catch the last half of their game against the Jets. Just ugly, even when the Jets tried to give the game away (18 penalties!)

O-line can't block and Manuel throws an ugly deep ball (almost 3 yards out of bounds every time.) Gonna be a long season for Marrone.

That oline is terribe. Im surprised because i thought that would be the first thing Marrone would fix. Their secondary also blows. Need to get Gilmore and Byrd back ASAP.

It was an ugly game. The personnel on Buffalo are very mediocre. The defensive line against the run has been one of the worst in the NFL for a couple seasons now. The offensive line got abused by the Jets. Buffalo had no running game and passing wasn't much better. Can't fault the coaching, it seemed like a personnel issue to me. Jets defense is impressive. With injuries to the secondary, Buffalo really didn't have a chance.

Manuel looked like a rookie the last possession.

i felt bad for justin rogers. he has no business playing.

Hackett is in over his head. He has yet to figure out how to utilize Spiller, instead running him up the middle on 1st and 2nd downs consistently. No screens, nothing to get him in space.

The Jets routinely left the middle of the field WIDE open on 3rd downs yesterday and Manuel would throw fade after fade after fade out of bounds. That's on him and Hackett.

And of course, the Bills, especially their secondary, have already been decimated by injuries. They are missing their top 4 DB's right now and it's certainly showing with scrubs like Justin Rogers being forced into covering the opposition's top WR's.

I can't blame the defense because 4/5ths of the secondary was injured. There's no way to prepare for that. Justin Rogers barely plays on Dime packages and he was forced to be our #1 CB. Aaron Williams who's been very good at Safety was forced to move to CB which put our back up safety Searcy out there. Buffalo wins that game with Gilmore, Byrd and McKelvin in there.

Manuel was awful. No other way around it. So far this season he has worse than Tebow -like accuracy on his deep balls. The O-line was a mess and that didnt help. Kind of shocked at how bad the offensive line played after keeping Manuel clean against the Pats and Panthers, we all saw what the Panthers did to Eli. Buffalo needs to fill the void at LG that is Colin Brown. If you dont want to pay Levitre insane money, fine, but dont replace him with a guy who a glorified practice dummy.

Hackett has sucked so far. That's putting it mildly. I love all those 3 and outs where we run a shotgun draw for no gain, shotgun sweep for loss of 2 and then on 3rd and 12 go with the ol' 5 yard out, then punt. How does a team with CJ Spiller and FJax NEVER run a screen play? Rex Ryan kills rookie QB's and they threw the house at EJ. How do you counter that? Screens usually work but no we don't run those anymore.

The fact that Justin Rogers is still employed the day after that debacle is mind blowing. You could probably find 3 DB's on Syracuse's roster who can play better than him, so there's gotta be someone on the practice squad/free agency market who could do a better job.

Obviously the offense was horrific, but if Justin Rogers wasn't running around like a pee-wee football player, the defense did more than enough to get this team a win.

As for those 3rd and 4th down deep passes down the sideline thrown out of bounds: that is my biggest pet peeve in all of football. Why attempt that play? It's such a low percentage play and really you're just hoping for a PI call. As others have said, the middle of the field was wide open, especially on 3rd downs, all day, and here we are throwing balls 10 yards out of bounds to guys that are covered and wouldn't be able to make a play even if the ball was thrown well. Not sure if Hackett is making these calls or if EJ is getting the deer in headlights look and just throwing the ball out there without looking at other options :noidea:

Manuel looked scared. How many throws had absolutely no chance at being caught? Rogers got owned by mediocre WR talent.

Only the bills would be unable to capitalize on the mistakes the Jets made.

Jets: "Here you go Buffalo, take this game"
Bills: "Nah, we're good thanks"

Justin Rogers gave up 266 yards and 2 TD's by himself, that's not even counting big plays/penalties he gave up that led to points. That was the worst individual performance I have ever seen by an NFL player. As bad as the offense was, the defense minus any semblence of a secondary still did enough to win the game. Forced 2 int's and no way in hell does Geno go all "air raid" on us if Byrd/Williams are ball hawking at safety and McKelvin/Gilmore are on Holmes/Hill. Pettine's hands were competely tied in this game due to injury.

You're so on point about the sideline throws. We either throw short of the sticks or deep sideline bombs on 3rd downs. I have no clue What kind of play calling Hackett is throwing out there. A monkey throwing darts at a playbook could design a better gameplan.

He should be scared, his OC is obsessed with running the same play over and over and putting EJ in 3rd and long situations. Then predictably every second half when we're losing we start throwing more. Jets just teed off on EJ because they knew EXACTLY what was coming.

Any news on the severity of the Spiller injury?

Got to watch the Bills for the first time this season. What a waste of 3 hours. Or more. The offense was just terrible for all the reasons you mentioned. Manuel either throws out of bounds or a bullet pass to a running back. Yesterday, he seemed to only throw touch passes to the tight end, who seemingly had no problems beating every linebacker the Jets had. Yet the Bills would only make that pass once in a while. The rest of the time it was run badly, or see Manuel hold the ball for far too long. Awful football on both sides.

And when you throw the ball as far out of bounds as he did yesterday, the refs won't make that call anymore because it's not a catchable ball.

Both Spiller and Dareus's injuries are minor and they both expect to play on Sunday against the Ravens.

Good. Spiller killed my fantasy football team yesterday. Between he, Ridley, and Dwayne Bowe, my team is officially 0-3. I thought I had a great draft too. Fantasy drives me nuts.

There was one play where Manuel got sacked and noone was open because on 3rd and 7, every single WR ran a 5 yard curl. What? It's like Hackett looks for the lowest percentage play in a situation and then goes with it thinking the other team thinks we won't run it?

I am not making excuses but it would be nice if the Bills could get a half season in before half the team is either on IR or out indefinitely. The Bills have led the league in guys on IR like three of the last four seasons, its unreal. As others have noted the Bills need Gilmore and Ron Brooks back as soon as possible. Gilmore seems close but Brooks is a total mystery. Its also time to re-examine this D line, Kyle Williams and Dareus are awful against the run, Williams is a shadow of his former self at this point, I have heard his name maybe once in three games and we continue to get destroyed by pretty much any RB who an ounce of talent. Colin Brown and TJ Graham will be lucky to finish the season with the Bills, both are a disaster. Of course they have two guys who are the true starters at there positions but in true Bills fashion there both hurt.

Hackett has been bad, he has reverted back to his Syracuse 2012 play calling ways. It doesn't help that any pass over twenty yards Manuel throws the ball 3 rows into the stands.

In think the defense, when healthy, has a ton of talent. Mario, Dareus, Kyle, Carrington, Kiko, Lawson, Moats, McKelvin, Gilmore, Byrd, Williams is one hell of a defense from a talent standpoint. You can't really judge the defense on what happened yesterday. Take away the Jets top 4 db's who are nowhere near as good as our top 4 db's and see how well they do. You cant scheme when 4/5ths of your secondary is injured, you just hope and pray. McKelvin was the glue holding the secondary together because he can play man coverage on an island.

Colin Brown is awful.

TJ Graham gets hated on but he ALWAYS beats his man. EJ is just unable to hit him early on. Once EJ starts finding his accuracy people will love TJ because hes good for at least one big play a game.

I actually think the Bills run defense was solid Game 1 and 2. I'm not taking anything seriously from yesterday due to the circumstances. They get gashed for a big run here and there, usually in the second half when they've been on the field the entire first half because Hackett's offense lacks any imagination or brains and keeps going 3 and out in 25 seconds.

Me and my buddy were both screaming at the TV on that one. Of course no one is going to be open! You have 5 guys running the same route, with no deep threat or anything! The safeties can cheat up as close as they want and the cornerbacks can stick right on their man because there is no threat of them going anywhere :bang:

Hacket caught lightning in a bottle last year. I do think that he is a good coach but no way was he ready to be an NFL OC. It will be interesting to see how this plays out and how loyal Doug will be towards Hack. I hope that he pulls it out

I liked Hackett for many reasons, thought he grew into his position as a college OC and was a solid recruiter, lots of energy, Fact is we had a solid O Line, two very good receivers and a good qb. Hackett did a good job but he had some nice pieces. I think Hackett will be fine as an OC in a couple years at the NFL level and Doug can help him.

It all depends on what he wants to be, NFL or college HC because if could have maintained a solid O at Cuse the next 2-3 years he would have been on the radar for a HC job, NFL is going to be tough for Hack with a rookie QB. I don't think any of the qb's from the last draft will turn out to be very good. And yes I think Manziel will be better than all of them, Bridgewater as well. I am not a fan of EJ or Geno, but I think Geno will be OK. EJ, I don't know.

Funny, that nobody really even talks about Tannehill who is really coming on down in Miami, kid looks really good. Great athlete too
