Reports are saying Donavon is in formal and serious discussions about the Thunder coaching vacancy. Would be interesting if he took it who Florida would replace him with and the Domino Effect it would have on college coaches across the country. Has the potential for some big names to move around.

I like it. He is stagnating. About my age and the right time to take a new challenge!

I heard Ollie on here a couple weeks ago.
(Edit) Sonic fan here. Thus, the thunder now and forever are dead to me... exempt for Collison...

Guy is moving to Oklahoma City? I'll believe it when I see it. He accepted the Magic job too only to turn back.

Any chance Hopkins gets a look at UFA or is that going to be a job that a Rick Pitino Jr grabs?

How good of a job is Florida? Its a football school more than bball and Billy Donovan is why the bball has been a perennial top 25 team more often than not. Obviously its a P5 team with money facilities and good weather but as far as other P5 bball gigs I'm not sure its one of the more coveted jobs. Certainly its a very good job but I'm unsure that you can pull a top coach that is already at a good P5 bball job.

No. End of discussion. So drop it.

whatever bro.

Lon Kruger had a few good teams down there with the Meat hook in the mid90s. I put it with Texas. They'll attract a major coach for sure. Programs become what they are with a great coach. Uconn was rubbish prior to Calhoun, etc.

how bout if when Cal jumps to the NBA, Somebody say's hey wonder if Hopkins get a look at Kentucky.

Enough.

I fail to see the groupthink about not mentioning Hopkins at all for other jobs. He has looked at USC, BC already. He would have TAKEN the USC job if it was offered. BC SHOULD have offered him.

Why on earth would he stop now? Alot can happen in 3 years to allow him to moon walk into a top 5 job at Syracuse. I think we are a bit protective about certain names being thrown around for whatever reason. Have some security in the idea that whatever happens, Syracuse will get a great HC, Hopkins or no Hopkins.

Btw, I'm not even that crazy to suggest Hopkins for Kentucky. Come on, now we're getting a little over the top :)

Richard Pitino would be my prediction to Florida if Donovan leaves.

Also CuseHulk can you please for the sake of discourse stop it with the John Wayne bravada whenever somebody suggests something. Hopkins is likely the next SU coach but if a USC type job opens again his name is going to come up.

I guess I should add a disclaimer: I'm a Syracuse fan, a Syracuse grad and a fan of Mike Hopkins.

I do think this Florida opening will have an interesting domino impact.

I understand why people pick on CuseHulk, but some of you would have Hopkins leaving if the OCC job opened up. Yes I'm joking, but there hasn't even been noise that anyones had any interest in him since our sanctions game out...

Please let me go on the record. I am a huge supporter of CuseHulk, I love his aggressive optimism and his whole self-appointed public relations rep thing he has going for all thing SU. That being said, he is an easy target.

He's taking the job. Rumor is that he's sick of competing with Calipari in the SEC.

I don't know about that, it was only two years ago that Florida was the overall number one seed, and got to the final four.

It's unlikely a 1st-time NBA coach will get a chance to get even a year with a core of Durant, Westbrook and Ibaka.

Florida might promote Pelphrey as opposed to chasing a coach this late in the game.
