Binghamton Post Game Thread

Are we...are we back? It seems like a lifetime ago when our "tune up game" were actually tune up games. The last few years we've had to sweat just about every team, including Binghamton. We came out and dominated from start to finish, like we're SYRACUSE. I hope this continues. The world is a better place when Syracuse basketball is good.

So many positives here. Kiyan, whoa dude! It's as if he's played a full season already with that confidence and decision making.

Happy to see Luke get more comfortable.
Sadiq, defensive Friq.
William Kyle, Donnie, George all as advertised and then some.

Bing is not a good team but they have some nice players and didn't back down, regardless of the score.

But

You can only play the team that’s in front of you.

Is Binghamton comically bad? Yes they are.

We did what we should have against a horrific team.

That said, I think this is the most athletic team we’ve had in years and has a chance to make things interesting.

Bingo is still a middle of the pack America East squad. Had we given this effort vs Pace we win by 40 in that one too.

A lot to cheer about tonight. I think George and Freeman are going to win us games this year - they looked fantastic. The defense was way better than it has been. Kiyan appears to be a valuable contributor right away. Kyle is an astonishing athlete.

But Binghampton might not win 3 games this year. Our shooting is still an issue. In particular, Betsey shouldn't be putting up 11 shots a game. And we will see if the unusual substitutions and schemes cost us again this year.

All around, happy to have Cuse basketball back!!

This is not the night for yeah it was Binghamton. We’ve suffered too many poor showings against garbage teams. A lot to be positive about.
-The first thing I loved was to buy in on defense. Our guys played hard from jump. We haven’t seen a complete defensive effort like that in a long time.
-also the difference in athleticism is glaring. We actually ran a consistent fast break and we probably had more dunks tonight than we did the entire year last year.
-George ran the point just liked we hoped and shot better than expected.
-Kiyan looks like a guy who was prepared for tonight because that’s what he’s prepared for for the past decade. Also underrated to get him off to a good start, so the pressure doesn’t build on him like it did with Buddy.
-Donnie is just scratching the surface. Once he gets more aggressive going to the basket, he will be even more effective. He is the best rebounder we have had in a long time as far as getting the ball out quickly and getting going on the fast break sometimes doing it himself with the dribble.
-it was notable that it didn’t seem like guys were in a get mine mindset other than Betsey, who only looked to shoot. Some really good looks late.
-my favorite underrated play of the night was late in the game when it looked like a guy was wide open and somehow White got all the way around him and not only was in position to play defense, but stole the ball. We have not seen athleticism and hunger on defense like that in a while.

With 2 starters out.
I think both Pace and Buffalo were much better than this version that we saw of Binghamton without two starters, as you said. Other than Lilley, Binghamton really had nobody. But it was still great to see the energy and killer instinct that has been missing for so long. But this team was pretty bad.
