BJ

Nice article
http://www.syracuse.com/orangebaske...2/syracuse_basketball_forward_bj_johnson.html
I still believe in every single one of these guys.

First paragraph says it all:
"B.J. Johnson emerged from the Syracuse locker room so soon before Monday's basketball practice in the Melo Center, he needed to flick on a light switch to illuminate the court."

That's ridiculous. They don't have automatic sensors on their lights? Was the Melo Center not built to the LEED standards? The ESF Gateway Center is LEED Platinum. Not too shabby.

FYI - Good stuff for BJ.

Okay, now I call BS on that article. The Melo Center is LEED Platinum certified as well so there is absolutely no way the lights there are NOT on automatic sensors. That's one of the easiest ways to get the necessary points for the certification. Come on "reporter" - get the damn facts straight!

Although maybe... it could have just been a figure of speech ;)

You're probably right. Much easier to say flicked on the lights as opposed to 'walked onto the courts such that the automatic sensors would register the presence of a person and initiate the start up of the solar-powered LED light banks.'

this is starting to sound like a conspiracy

BJ referred to "next year". Sounds like he is expecting to return. I mention this because of the speculation on this board about possible player transfers and the possible recruitment of Bryant. Someone alluded to the fact that one of the players are unhappy and might be the transfer. Doesn't sound like it is BJ.

The stuff that gets people worked up......

Wow...

If it's a LEED Platinum building, I'm sure the vast majority of the lights are either on occupancy sensors, timers, or are high-efficacy lights like LEDs or fluorescents. The court lights would be a bit different, as you don't want them turning on every time a player, janitor, squirrel that wandered in from the street, etc. enters the premises. Also, the main reason for having sensors is so that people don't forget to turn off the lights when they leave the room. I doubt whoever closes down the Melo center is going to forget to turn the court lights off before they turn in. At least I hope not--that would be one hell of an electric bill that month!

That's what I was thinking, but I play on at least two different local courts that have auto sensors on them including the local high school. I see them used everywhere now, including huge warehouses.

Oops, fooled me.

I've met plenty of people that would get heated about such things, so assumed you were being serious.

Nope. I do quite a bit of tech editing so details are important, but not so much that I freak out. But I do know that people here get fired up about such things so I was having a bit of fun.

And showing you all the knowledge I obtained in my 2 years at ESF. Go Stumpies!

I have to say, what happened to this thread? Something something, LED, something LEED. :)
VT, aside from Jim, are you the first person to hijack one of my threads? At least hook it up with a picture of a hot girl, yeah?
:D
All kidding aside, BJ Johnson for President!

If we could just get a like on your post from BJ's dad, I will certainly add one as well!

Hijack a thread with a title of "BJ" - I'd never do that...

I actually hijacked it so that Jim wouldn't hijack it in the naughty direction.
