BJ

Ah, the preemptive jacking (no pun intended?) haha.

It's posts like that which make me very happy to be working from a home office. Clearly office coworkers would know I'm screwing off by the loud chuckle I just let out.

Ha, I snicker through my nose when I contain myself at work. Thanks to the funny picture thread!

I have to say, what happened to this thread? Something something, LED, something LEED. :)
VT, aside from Jim, are you the first person to hijack one of my threads? At least hook it up with a picture of a hot girl, yeah?
:D
All kidding aside, BJ Johnson for President!
It's not up to Jarhead Jim standards but you needed someone with light...

I dont want no BJ bandwagon fans next year when he breaks out and starts doing his thing.

Where's he getting minutes?

Sounds like him and Patterson will be getting more minutes down the stretch per JB.

Hope they can capitalize

Whos taking minutes away from him?

It's no disrespect to BJ but we all have see JB coach for many many years. With Richardson coming in he's going to play at the two and the three, then you have JBs trusted players in G and Cooney. Anybody that doesn't think those two are playing less than 33 minutes each is crazy. That'll leave about 14 minutes between the two positions, I'm sure we see G play some point guard so say there are another 10 minutes available. I'm sure Richardson locks up about 20 of those 24 leaving roughly 4 minutes left, divided between those three, BJ and Buss.

Forgot minutes at the 4 with Roberson and McCullough and not even including Diange.

I'm not saying it's right or that I don't want to see BJ play or he doesn't deserve a shot, but watching JB coach for as many years as all of us have leads to my beliefs. I'm willing to make another wager that I'm sure I won't get paid on again.

BJ puts on 20 pounds, he will be a viable part of the team next year.
Easier said than done. BJ is rail thin and doesn't look like he has the body that can simply add weight by working out more (see Warrick, Hakim).

Oh so the freshman coming in is already taking minutes from him? Why because hes a burger boy? One big thing you overlook is that BJ hasnt been ready to play yet, physically and mentally imo. That all changes next year imo because he has shown signs that hes getting it finally when hes out there, things are starting to click. JB favors upper classmen and BJ is going to get plenty of minutes to help the team out the next 2 years. Count on it.

MCW sat behind scoop and he was a NBA player. I always believed MCW was better as a freshman then scoop was as a senior even tho scoop played well he was limited and made a lot of questionable decisions on the court.

BJ will avg 2.3 threes made a game next year.

Great post.

Too many instances where we have had freshman not live up to the hype and upperclassmen earn JB's trust.

It also took DNic two years to develop and he ended up becoming a knockdown shooter from all over the court. I could see BJ developing his game, and that could be a good model for him

Perfect example i forgot about was DNic. He developed late into a stud senior. Thanks for bringing him up.

Care to make a wager on the threes per game? It's per games SU plays not BJ plays (minus injury games counting as well). I doubt he gets that many off next year.

You can think that "burger boy" will not get minutes, but he will.

I guess my main question is what have you seen from BJ to give him extended playing time next year with so many returning starters and a bit recruiting class coming in. I'm still not sold on him sticking around.

Ive seen him comfortable. Where he doesnt just jack up a shot first time he touches the ball. Ive seen him play within the zone on offense and make a pass or take a few dribbles and find a open man . Ive seen him relax and take a shot with great form and swish. Its all confidence and experience with him. Same players dont click until their final 2 years and I believe hes one of them.

Whats your wager? It really doesnt matter because im confident he can contribute.

Youre sold on MR because hes a burger boy , he hasnt dont anything to take pt away from anyone. Im not saying he wont get time , im saying BJ will play and contribute.

You pick the wager.

My point was i really think he can play and make shots from deep. Defenses will have to play him. I dont really want anything from you.

I think he can too, but it's our opinions that matter it's JBs.
