I think the timing was terrible and they are reacting to that. Doubt it continues.

I have both during nba basketball season because I cannot get local team games on YouTube TV.

Then once nba playoffs hit, I cancel the Fubo. Why don’t I just do FUBo full time ? Well fubo didn’t have TNT and I needed that. Also I prefer the YouTube tv interface vs fubo. Fubo seems kind of low budget despite cost.

So since we just started the new nba season, I added Fubo again and things seem improved. Another thing is it seems that EVERYTHING on Fubo is available on demand?

I went fubo this morning. 5 day trial. You get every single game. No MULTIVIEW option unless you have apple tv or ROKU ultra 2024 version. But it’s a smooth interface and it’ll do for today’s action

And with the blackout on YTTV they know some subscribers have ESPN+ as part of bundles, like Verizon Wireless bundle, and they may not want to put games on there that are on their main channels.

I guess I'm used to having it play on espn app through spectrum cable service. All these apps are absurd. We probably have 10 different streaming services. And many include commercials now. It's basically turning into cable except you can't get it in one place.

There was a good discussion of the Google-Disney dispute on CNBC's Squawk Box this morning. It was suggested by a seasoned media observer that YTTV may want to create a Sports "skinny bundle" but that ESPN won't let them include their sports channels in it, while at the same time Disney has created its own sports focused "skinny bundle" with its acquisition of FUBO. However, no discussion of antitrust issues was discussed..

Below is video of the 7 minute discussion. I don't know if is available to everyone or if you need a TV cable/satellite/streaming subscription to CNBC (or if the link will work at all). [Note: both participants are subscribers to YTTV.]

I said this on here quite a few years ago. This whole thing will end up being a huge pain for the user and cutting the cord was inexpensive and easier 3-4 years ago. It’s now a “will that game be available with what I have….?” and with streaming services constantly increasing their prices plus now branching off to make their own individual service. Cable all in one spot doesn’t seem so bad.

ESPN doesn't really make it easy to understand, especially with renaming their packages differently over the years (i.e. ESPN 3 => ESPN + => ESPN Select). The easy thing to understand is that ESPN Unlimited gives you access to all of their content. ESPN Select is where it gets less clear. According to ESPN, this is how they differentiate ESPN Select from Unlimited...

Select does not give you access to the full set of linear ESPN channels (like the flagship ESPN channel, ESPN2, ESPNU etc) as a live stream

Maybe it's just me but that's not exactly clear when trying to figure out whether I'll have access to the game tonight.

I hesitate to weigh in again, but maybe the way to look at it is that ESPN Select only gives you access to ESPN+.

This is where a lot of the confusion comes from - ESPN rebranding their subscriptions every few years. ESPN Select is essentially ESPN+. Select has become the new name for ESPN+ (with a few minor tweaks).

And I think I've seen that they are eventually going to do away with a separate ESPN+ subscription, or maybe even calling it that. So it ultimately will be ESPN Unlimited, either as a stand alone subscription purchase or through your cable/satellite/streaming provider.
 
They make it harder to figure out when they have multiple logins on the app but dont honor them

Limiting to 3 streams is also bogus.

I have 2 logins that give me the ESPN/ESPN2 streams and 2 that give me the ESPN+ stuff but you cant actually use both on the app even if they are both logged in.

Forced to log in and out of the app to get TVS streamed is just a pain.

Then add in there is basically no way to contact support anymore
 
In addition to football, ESPN also covers Formula 1, with races (regular + sprint) in Brazil this weekend.
I'll be watching those as well. 🏎️🏈:)

You can change channels with a remote with YTTV. I think it's actually easier. It focuses on the few channels I watch, not the 500+ that I don't.

But yeah, having to app jump at the moment is less than ideal. October 1 (Monumental Sports) and October 31 (ESPN) are the first time that any YTTV negotiation impacted what I watch.

looks like im paying for direct tv and yttv for the month. doesn't look like its going to end quickly

agree, i'll take the 20$ savings and put it towards my direct tv bill for the month. I hope these providers stick to their guns in the future and stand up for the viewers. Disney thinks it can put a gun to their heads and demand anything they want. minus college football I can careless about Disney, espn, abc
