Blackout Looms of ESPN on YouTubeTV

I didn’t want to like Hulu more than YTTV but I do now. Those bastards got me.
Some things about the YTTV UI/UX really annoyed me.

One thing I realized today is that I really don’t care about any sports other than Syracuse football and basketball. The Sling Orange day passes are a bit of a revelation for me - I can pay $24 for a month of football and then maybe $50 for basketball season. And I don’t give a lick about live TV, this may be the way to go for me moving forward

I just had a live chat with yttv, you have to go through a couple of clicks to get to the live chat. I asked for a discount and pause. They told me that $20 discount hadn't kicked in yet and offered a 1 week pause. I told them that I was paying full price for yttv and buying day passes on sling but I really like yttv and then asked for a longer pause and a discount. They gave me a 2 week pause and a $40 discount. The pause is a joke since my regular payment will be due a couple of weeks later but I'll take the $40 discount and ask for more later if need be.
The key I guess is to get a live chat and don't take their firs offer. Maybe I could have pushed for more but half off seemed fair for now.

I agree about the chat. I did that last week and got 2 weeks free (the renewal date was pushed back 2 weeks). In my chat I mentioned that I would pause or cancel the subscription if the issue wasn't resolved in a reasonable amount of time.

Your husband will probably like Pluto TV. It’s a free app and shows a lot of classic movies and tv series, as well as some recent movies. Now, there is commercials, but they are very few and far apart for a short period of time. They are not obtrusive . I enjoy Pluto
General question about Pluto - is there a way to get video to stop playing in the background while you are searching the app for things to watch?

UI/UX ?
User interface and user experience.
I didn’t like how the “library” was organized for the saved content and starting a show from start wouldn’t work unless I was recording it.

Tried Hulu Live a while ago and wasn’t a fan but it’s better to me now (and price was better too). Hate to say it though,

They gave me a full refund for the month after I asked twice in the chat but I was only a few days into the billing cycle.

Interesting, as we do like the YTTV user interface.
I can see that it would be nice to be able to organize the library. YTTV has the overall library and the Recently Recorded.

To watch a recording that's in progress, it's usually best to go to the library and select it there with Start from Beginning instead of going to the live directory and playing it from there.

When playing a recording it is much better than what we're experiencing with DirecTV now... especially when trying to fast forward through ads.

I have mixed feelings about the YTTV library. The thing I don't like is that sometimes it takes me a lot longer than it should to find content because of how they choose to organize my recordings. There are too many filters so sometimes I wonder, is that show in "sports", "series", "recently recorded", etc. It would be great if I could have something like "my favorites" so the shows I record and watch the most could more efficiently be found.

I have no problem accessing a program on the Live directory and starting from the beginning, as long as it's a program I'm recording. I don't think you can start a program from the beginning while it's live if you're recording it. A great aspect of YTTV is you can record as much as you want; no limit. For example, I record all ACC football games. Just in case.

I solve it by doing a "search" for the program if I can't quickly find it in the Library.

For those who have Hulu + Live TV...

1) I'm looking at their plans and it appears that you get Disney + and ESPN Select as part of the subscription. Is that correct? I ask because currently I pay about $83 for YTTV and then pay $20 for ESPN Select.

2) I'm confused about the ads in your library. What exactly has ads and what doesn't? I don't want ads for games and programs I record. I don't care about regular Disney stuff.

Can someone help me? I have YTTV and separately have Disney play inc espn select (formerly plus). I cannot get the espn games at all even though I have the separate subscription. What gives?

Not all games on ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ACCN, etc are on ESPN+. It seems like fewer and fewer are, especially now during the Disney/YTTV dispute. They want you to upgrade to ESPN Unlimited to get everything.

That's what I have as well. It is confusing, for sure. As I understand it, with espn select, you will NOT be able to watch cuse bb or fb today. Cuse FB is on the main espn channel, which we don't get access to with espn select. Looking at the schedule below, the basketball game is unfortunately one of just a few not listed as espn +. Instead, it's listed on ACCN, which I'm pretty sure we do not have access to either.

EDIT: After experimenting with different channels, what I stated above is correct. Just go to the espn app and at the top click on "Schedule and Replays". Then click on "Upcoming". The only thing that you can access with espn select is content that has ESPN+ listed to the right. We can NOT access espn, espnu, espn2, accn, etc. Only espn+.

Looks like I'll be getting another Hulu one day pass, although this is starting to add up (this will be my 3rd one day pass in about a week). This sucks. Maybe I should cut my losses and just sign up for a month instead. I don't know.
