So a couple weeks ago an old roommate of mine sent me a post on Facebook asking me if I wanted to go to the SU-VT game.
After some deliberating we decide to go, coincidentally the same day we can't pull out the win against Wake Forest. Fast forward to Thursday and my body decides to get the worst stomach virus of my life. From 9:45 am to 6 pm I dry heaved more times then I have the rest of my relatively young(27) life. Luckly I had Thursday and Friday off to rest my body enough to give our Orange the energy needed to help pull out the upset against those Bloody "Jive Turkeys".
Saturday finally comes and I don my SU jersey and head out of the house, hoping that our defense can at least keep the score close enough. And boy did our defense show up AND THEN SOME!! My god what a game our defensive unit had.
We were really able to keep there option running game stymied for the better part of the game.
I think what really set the tone for the night was the first TD of the game. That TD really got the crowd into the game. I was one of those guys screaming "O" on every third down in the first half. Every 2nd and 3rd in the 3rd quarter. And every down in the 4th quarter. All I kept thinking though was I can't even imagine this place when we have a full crowd doing that. My ears might hurt as much after the game, as my throat does still 2 days later.
The best part of that night for me was when VT thought they had that TD off of the QB run up the gut on 4th and 1, and the VT fan that was sitting right next to my roommate stood up to clap and a say to him "it's a good thing you finally have something to clap for" to which he quips back, "it's not a good thing that your starting QB decided to leave the game", too which I replied with "You're right, because apparently Mahoney doesn't even want to take the snap". I then looked back to the field and noticed a flag on the ground and looked back at the dude and yelled "ha"!
Ill never forget the look on that kids face, he looked like a slightly skinnier Jonah Hill with ridiculously blue eyes. That dude was staring me daggers when I yelled that at him.
Apparently when VT tied the game, my roommate caught a glimpse of him starting to turn to me to say something, but he apparently stopped and decided against it, smart move Jonah.
