Powerhouse teams continue to pad their schedules by playing over-matched opponents instead of giving us what we want: powerhouses vs. powerhouses. You sometimes wonder if they aren’t competing with each other to see who can run up the biggest score, more than against the pathetic team they’re actually sharing the field with. In response, I’m going to post a weekly fantasy. I’ll take the two largest offensive scores rolled up by ranked teams and created a game between them by listing all their scoring plays as if they occurred in the same game.
We now have a dream match-up: two time Blow-out Bowl winners Baylor and Mississippi take each other on. (Actually, another former contender, Texas Christian, scored as much as the Rebels but won by a much smaller margin so I picked Mississippi.) The bears are looking for their third win in three weeks.
FIRST QUARTER
12:44 Baylor wastes no time getting going: Seth Russell to Corey Coleman for 11 yards for a TD,
Bears 7 Rebels 0
11:25 The Rebels try to respond but can only get a field goal: Gary Wunderlich 21 yd FG GOOD
Bears 7 Rebels 3
7:33 The Bears growl right back: Seth Russell pass complete to Corey Coleman for 11 yds for a TD,
Bears 14 Rebels 3
4:42 And again: Seth Russell run for 5 yds for a TD,
Bears 21 Rebels 3
3:03 The Rebs finally crack the end zone. Jordan Wilkins run for 11 yds for a TD,
Bears 21 Rebels 10
1:45 The Bears can kick it, too: Chris Callahan 31 Yd Field Goal
Bears 24 Rebels 10
0:00 The South rises again on the last play of the quarter: Akeem Judd run for 3 yds for a TD,
Bears 24 Rebels 17
SECOND QUARTER
13:58 Baylor re-takes control: Shock Linwood run for 1 yd for a TD.
Bears 31 Rebels 17
11:41 And they continue to poor it on: Seth Russell to LaQuan McGowan for 18 yds for a TD,

Bears 59 Rebels 31
6:16 And on: Jarrett Stidham pass complete to Davion Hall for 30 yds for a TD,
Bears 66 Rebels 31

Bears 66 Rebels 52
Comments: Baylor continues to lead the country in scoring by a large margin, 64 points a game, (Texas Tech is at 52). They are also averaging 725 yards a game, (TT is second with 632- the Bears beat the Raiders 63-35 when they played). In this game they got ‘only 644 yards. Of course they took it easy after scoring 66 in the first three quarters. They rushed for 281, passed for 363 and got 33 first downs. The Rebels just couldn’t keep up on the scoreboard but had even more yards: 665, 265 on the ground and 400 in the air. They had 31 first downs.
Seth Russell was 18 for 27 for 246 yards and 3 scores. Shock Linwood had 135 yards in 13 carries and scored once. The Shocker is averaging 9.6 yards per carry so far this year. Corey Coleman had 7 catches for 108 yards and 2 scores.
Chad Kelly was 24 of 33 for 384 yards and 3 scores for the Rebels. Eugene Brazley ran for 98 yards on 6 carries (16.30 and one score. Laquon Treadwell ahd a big day with 8 catches for 136 yards and 2 scores.
We missed a great game!
