Blowout

I thought I read that WSU has roughly 26 players in the portal, but all but 3 are going to play in the bowl game. Is that right? The starting QB is a key one that will be missing though.

If accurate, I'm surprised the line is still at 16.5.

You play football with a funny shaped ball. It can bounce many different ways. Football games are won by the team that plays the best without turnovers and stupid penalties. I don’t care what the point spread is, you don’t win games on paper. Teams need to be ready to play!

I'll believe it when I see it that 23 players who are currently in the portal are suiting up tomorrow for Wazzu. I think that was a lot of coach speak.

Bottom line is that we are better than them even if their OB1 and the whole team and coaching staff were there. We just beat freaking Miami and knocked them out of the ACCCG and CFP. We play our game and no one is stopping our passing game. Our boys have a lot to play for. They have repeatedly said they want to get to 10 wins and be the team that turned the corner for the program. We win by three scores.

Almost every game we played this year except Holy Cross was stressful in some capacity. I’m not jinxing anything and Wazzou could easily play hard like a wounded animal, but it would be really nice to just kick another teams ass from start to finish to punctuate this great season.
Sone laughed when I projected UConn as a 4th-quarter game.

It’s not that I thought UConn was especially good.

We’re a pretty inconsistent team and, overall, not going to wow anyone with talent.

I think both those things are in the process of improving.

But it is a process.

Never underestimate an opponent. We haven't exactly been awesome against backup QBs this year either.
No doubt about it. Both teams took us to OT (UNLV and Virginia Tech)

From the DO article -

(In addition to being down QB1, HC, OC, DC )

On offense, starting running back Wayshawn Parker has already left for Utah, and No. 2 receiver Kris Hutson departed for Arizona.
In place of Mateer at quarterback will be Zevi Eckhaus. The senior transferred from Bryant and played just 19 snaps in his first year with the Cougars. Brown said he’s watched lots of Eckhaus’ Bryant film, saying he “thought he did a good job.”

WSU’s defensive line has also been decimated by the transfer portal. The Cougars have already lost Khalil Laufau and Ansel Din-Mbuh. Meanwhile, leading tackler Taariq Al-Uqdah transferred to archrival Washington less than an hour before Thursday’s press conference.

Kaligis added David Gusta, who’s currently in the portal, won’t be playing due to an ankle injury.

So, yeah.
It’s a LOT more than “just down 3 starters” for the Cougs.

The backup QB coming from Bryant, whose football team seems like it has some annual struggles to win, would seem to be to our advantage. But that Hajj Malik Williams at UNLV had previously QBed at Campbell University and had a good day against us this year.

Latest reports they are missing like 3 people isnt it?
No, it's the other way around according to today's reports; only 3 of their 27 transfers will be playing! Score should be like our last bowl but this time in our favor.

No,that's not right.

in the PC the coach said they brought like 98 guys to play.

They will be short on the DLINE for sure but maybe they also throw stuff we havent seen out there because of that.,

No,that's not right.

It is accurate

HC said that all the guys who entered the portal AFTER the coach left would play.

That’s only about 3

The rest will not be playing

After Dickert’s depature, Washington State AD Anne McCoy quickly named Cougars assistant head coach/defensive line Pete Kaligis as acting head coach for the Holiday Bowl.

Washington State’s ranks are not as depleted as one might assume. Cougars players have been given the option to play in the game, even if they have entered the transfer portal.

“There’s only like three that won’t play, but all of the (other) guys will play in this game,” Kaligis said.

true. V.A. tech was missing both qb drones and rb tuten who account for like 80% of their offense and the 1st time start QB took us to overtime. just sayin' .

We are better now than then. Miami was a coming out party. Of their 27 transfers only 3 will be playing and their key coaches are gone. Sure, anything is possible but a loss here is improbable.
