Borje Salming has ALS

Borje Salming was one of the greatest Maple Leafs to ever wear the sweater. He was in Toronto tonight for the HOF weekend. He is living with ALS. He is on the right in this picture. On the left is Darryl Sittler, Salming’s teammate , and probably the best Leaf ever.
It was an incredible, and emotional moment. So sad.

( I actually bumped into Sittler a number of years ago in Savannah GA of all places. I was so awestruck I could barely talk. Great guy)

I am not ashamed that I have vowed that if I ever get the disease I will take matters into my own hands. I am not tough enough.

Borje reminds me of my childhood and first formative memories of my life, not just sports. Those frozen winter nights where we had like 3 channels and 1 was the CBC. I never realized how good he was until much later cause the leafs were awful

That disease will take you out fast. One of the absolute worst.
