Bottom Line

Yeah, the stat line didn't tell the whole story - he had no support from the run game and had a 40+ yard pass (quite possibly a long TD pass) dropped.

As I said the stat line didn't tell the story. But whatever believe what ya want. He wasn't good today

He had a bad first half.

The defense had a really bad second half.

He also wasn't "brutal."

He did reasonably well for a true frosh playing his first road game. He was far from perfect, and had some bad plays, too. He was somewhere in the middle.

I think he was brutal. But everyone is entitled to their own opinion

He completed 21 and had 13 incompletions. He threw two touchdown passes, despite being handcuffed by the play calling in the first half, or he might have thrown for 300. Was he as good as some of the other games? schnope. But he was far from brutal. Perspective is needed.

Exactly.
The kid did what was asked and more. Made a couple plays with his feet, missed a couple throws, made some nice throws. What more are we expecting from 2nd string qb?

The defensive gameplan was head scratching. Im not upset at the kids, but the position they were put in.

It was just odd

I get that we're young and will be inconsistent. I see this more on the coaches, and what scares me is how much it seems like grob again. We are unprepared and terrible at tackling and making adjustments on defense. We had a bye week to prepare for this game and looked lost.

I agree. I know he struggled in the first half, though the second half he looked better. I think it was important that they kept him in to get more reps. I am interested in what the offense will do next week. Will Lester open the playbook or keep it conservative?

Anyone with a brain can see the ED performs better with an opened O. He plays safe with the ball, makes some plays...
I used to be all in on the conservative approach but...

Actually the stat line is the story. Blame it on the defense and 2 blunders (the punt and the late hit) but not the QB.

I thought his throws looked weaker today. I have to wonder if the hit he took that concussed him messed up his neck or shoulder a little too.
