Bourama Sidibe waits on latest knee treatment, will likely need surgery

Severity wise this isnt the same as DC2 right? Troubling nonerheless tho, speedy recovery Bourama

This is why depth matters. Not necessarily who plays, but who is on the bench. It's one thing to have 3 guys play 40 minutes while multiple guys sit on the bench because they just are not "good enough" (etc, etc). It's another thing to have guys play 40 minutes because we are officially at a point where we do not have anybody else (left team, injuries).

That said... depth is huge, if nothing else just to have capable bodies. We really have 6 D1-capable players! Insane! Yes, we have had some tough luck this year.

When we had 10 players, we had enough depth in the front court and back court. As far as developing the bench, the only one that can be argued is Washington.

Any seniors from football capable of and willing to play a few minutes here and there? Five additional fouls at center if nothing else.

FYI on the PRP injections, can't take advil like medicines for 2 weeks after. So they give you some milder opiods, or just grin and bear it. Tylenol is allowed.

Just saying, this isn't a fun procedure to have. I had similar on my shoulder and it hurts like a bear and there is little you can do about it.

Sorry if we lose him for the year. That will suck. But, he'll be much improved next year.

If he can play great, if not. Hope he has a speedy recovery and can be pain-free going forward. He is going to be a good one!

Sucks short term, but I'm actually ENCOURAGED by this update. Need to get this situation resolved so that he can recover physically and play without being encumbered by pain.
Agreed. Some posts were giving me the impression he may never play ball at a high level ever again. If it's just surgery that's required with healing time going into the summer, that's MUCH better than what I was fearing.

No matter what happens in the next few weeks, it sounds like surgery is the way to go. He really needs to strengthen his legs this offseason. It's too bad he won't be using the spring and most of the summer to develop his game but it sounds like surgery might resolve this.

As far a I could see, that was only coming from one source.

Eh, I guess I could be optimistic, but tall lanky basketball players with bum knees ... the track record ain't great.

I wonder if Sid regrets not taking the redshirt after the 10th game? JB has said the player has to be on board to redshirt. So, I guess Sid turned it down. It's been pretty much a wasted season for him. If he took the redshirt after game 10 he could have already had the surgery and his recovery would have started at least 2 months earlier.

I don’t Bourama regrets it; I don’t think he wants to be in college for 5 years.

Is this related to that lousy play in the Tech game where he challenged the breakaway and fell awkwardly? He seemed to be doing well before that play. Knowing he wasn't healthy anyway, he probably should have pulled up.

I guess it's a good thing in the long run to finally have it fixed for good. Speedy recovery, Big Bou.

PRP is sham science

Didn't work for two friends of mine either. Was just a step along the way to eventual stem cell injections to get done what they needed (shoulder for one and ankle for the other).

Stem cells didn’t work for me either...

they worked for both of my friends. sorry it didn't take for you though. that's an expensive nut to swallow (that doesn't sound right at all - my bad).

i did saline injections for my shoulder. started working but i got an ear infection that was threatening my hearing permanently and they put me on prednizone which killed much of the work being done in there. i'll try it again someday. i love going to see that doctor. he's full on crazy.

I just hope the kid can get healthy.
He is hitting it out this year.
If he can’t do more damage then fine but if he is damaging his future shut him down now.
We will win another game and have a winning season.
That is all I want.
