I love JBs comment about Jesse and Frank and BS being a bonus guy. And we all know JB says things but it's a nice positive on the Center position for a change
The hammer is a universal tool. It can be used for anything.
his shins were amputated. He's got those running blades now.just curious if anyone's heard anything on this front...
I am hearing good things. He is close to being ready to play in games.his shins were amputated. He's got those running blades now.
I'll be glad for him if he can get back to playing, but I have to wonder if that's a good thing overall for SU hoops. Just curious to see what effect, if any, it will have on Frank particularly.I am hearing good things. He is close to being ready to play in games.
Of course, with Bourama, that could change very quickly. But don't be surprised to see him enter the game at the 15:57 mark against Indiana.

Exactly where I was going.Well, right now Frank is the lone backup in the pivot. If Sidibe comes back [and can play -- which is a separate discussion], then I have to believe that he leapfrogs Frank and slides in as the primary backup, because JB values experience. Which might not be a bad development, because Jesse is foul prone, and having a former starting center available to spell him would be beneficial for the team -- but it might [a] stunt Frank's development, [2] make him dissatisfied with his go-forward role, and [3] possibly induce him to explore the portal.
If Frank leaves, that would be "bad" for the team long term, since this is Sidibe's last year. And who would be the backup next year? Carey?
So - good short term, detrimental long term?

I know that Frank isn't a "forward", but I've said it before and I am about to say it again...I would love to see Frank play some forward when we need to add athleticism. Obviously it wouldn't work when we are behind and need to score, but if we have a lead and we need defense and rebounding I wouldn't mind seeing a lineup of Jesse, Frank, Benny, Buddy and Symir. Defensively that lineup could cover the floor and rebound. Offensively, it would be all Buddy and Jesse.Well, right now Frank is the lone backup in the pivot. Short doses only please. And only when up like 40.I know that Frank isn't a "forward", but I've said it before and I am about to say it again...I would love to see Frank play some forward when we need to add athleticism. Come on, I would just love to see it tried. One issue is, if we have a lead, the other team is likely to press and that lineup wouldn't be very good at breaking the press. But, they have to score to press, so we would just have to not let them score. I just think we limit guys in our minds sometimes, before giving them the opportunity to show us their full potential. If it doesn't work, then we shelf it.Short doses only please. And only when up like 40.
I think Jesse could play the 4. It would just be a Rick Jackson power 4. With his FTs, no reason he can’t be shooting from 10’ - 15’ .I know that Frank isn't a "forward", but I've said it before and I am about to say it again...I would love to see Frank play some forward when we need to add athleticism. So far, we haven't had much success breaking the press and scoring easy baskets, which JB says is the goal. Until we can do that regularly, I think the other teams are going to press us a lot.Come on, I would just love to see it tried. A team would be foolish to not press until we show that we can break the press and actually make them pay for pressing. Even if they keep us out of our offense for 10-12 seconds and make our limited rotation work hard for that period of time, it is a win for the opposition. So, sure we have to solve the press. But, I would hope our coaches understand what is coming and see the opportunity to use the opponent's press against them and teach our guys how to score against the press. There should be open threes. And our guys can hit open threes. Personally, I don't think that the press is about ball handling as much as it is about vision, passing and movement. It seems that our inbounder is content with just making a pass that reaches another player, instead of setting that player up with vision. Our player is usually cutting straight to the baseline and catches the ball while facing the inbounder. By the time he secures the ball, another player has doubled him before he has turned, so he has zero vision. Anyway, I could talk about this all day, but if we watch tonight and we look completely unprepared for the inevitable press then I will be VERY disappointed in our preparation. So far, we haven't had much success breaking the press and scoring easy baskets, which JB says is the goal. Until we can do that regularly, I think the other teams are going to press us a lot.
