Fow what it's worth:

Schlabach of Espn has us projected to face Indiana in the Independence Bowl. I'd sign up for that in a heartbeat.

McMurphy of ESPN has us in the St. Petersburg bowl facing USF

SB Nation has us facing Houston in the Birmingham Bowl.

What I find interesting, is that to project us into the bowls, they must have us beating NC State, Pitt, and BC, winning all of our remaining "toss-up games."

What a difference a quality win makes.

Jerry Palm is projecting SEVEN teams to make bowls at 5-7 this year.

I'll take it. Get them reps.
Agreed. Beggers can't be choosers when you are one of the 2 teams with the longest unranked streak of any power 5 school in the nation.

no doubt. I am already wanting to find out the APR scores of all schools so that we can see where we rank. I believe they are still going to use that to determine which 5-7 teams can go to a bowl? or did they dump that rule already?

i see BC as a winnable game. haven't seen Pitt play but at 5-2 seems like that would be a tough one. NC state has played well. Where do we see the 5th win coming from?

Brings back fond memories of the very first SU Bowl game that I remember as a kid. Despite the Independence not being a big name bowl, it was a big deal at the time as there had been the longest gap ever between SU bowl appearances (and still the longest gap to this day)---the last one had been 13 years earlier (Gator Bowl). And that '79 team had 3 guys on it that had long NFL careers (Art Monk, Gary Anderson, Joe Morris). The boys won big that day (31-7), the first SU bowl win in 18 years (and would be the last one for another 10 years).

Seriously though...why on earth can't we beat Forida State at home? They haven't exactly been dominant this year. If the team that played Saturday shows up vs Florida State, it's could be interesting.
Virginia Tech plays Miami this weekend. Will be interesting to see how the look vs. a good Miami team.

I think NC State at the Dome is gonna be the deciding factor in getting to 5 wins and possibly a bowl this year. While they look good on film they haven't left the Carolina's yet and have lost every game on the road. Get them in the dome cause as Dino asked Whose House?

And if anyone wants to complain about us taking a bowl game at 5-7 (Im sure there will be one saying a below .500 team shouldn't go) let me remind you Nebraska under a 1st year head coach, new system, and young QB went to a bowl game at 5-7 last year and are undefeated and ranked 8th in the country (with the easiest schedule anyone has ever seen mind you) so getting another couple of weeks of practice is really an invaluable experience.

Take care of BC though or else NC State doesn't matter.

I really don't see a path to success wins, but then I didn't see the VT upset either soooooooo, I'll drink the Kool-Aid.

The last time we went into Death Valley we were far more out manned than this year and we had a legitimate shot at winning even with AJ Long at QB.

A few turnovers, lucky bounces, mixed assignments and anything can happen.

I wonder if real good looking Charlie Loeb still has admirers down Louisiana way.
