Let’s say Miami is a 1- or 2-loss team and plays well in the conf champ but loses. Could we take the #2 bowl slot over them? What are the actual rules for seeding teams into the affiliated bowls?Win out
I think it's unlikely. I think the bowls get to choose and Miami is probably still considered the bigger draw.Let’s say Miami is a 1- or 2-loss team and plays well in the conf champ but loses. There is a set order of how bowl picks and when. There is also an ACC rule that for a bowl to pick Team A over Team B, which has a better record, Team A must have no more than 1 more loss than Team B. (They can't take a 6-6 team over an 8-4 team.) The only bowl with a direct tie in to how a team finishes is that the Conference Champion goes to the Orange Bowl if they're not selected for the playoff. There's no "If you finish with the 3rd best record you go here, but with the 4th best you go there."I think it's unlikely. I didn't know all the specifics, but I figured it was something like that. So in the scenario mentioned previously, where we have the same record as Miami or they have one more loss, we'd likely get bipassed in favor of them. There is a set order of how bowl picks and when.
