Box Score Shocker...

That just can't be right. I know Jesse is right but how were we +9.1 when Joe was on the court. +6.6 when Buddy was on the court and -2.6 when Kadray was on the court. And lose by 16?
yeah the numbers dont seem to make sense

They totally stifled our o, and nothing was going to change that last night.

the only thing that kept us somewhat in the game was jesse’s d.

we let it get away at the end of the first half, but my box score shock, was why did Jesse only get 19 minutes when he was the only player we put on the floor who made any difference ????
we got behind double digits and needed to have scorers on the floor

I appreciate the link, but to just have bpm plus minus without also showing standard plus minus is meaningless and statistically deceiving.
yeah this metric is an ESTIMATE over 100 possessions...which is...meaningless.

BUT perhaps it shows that the potential for a win was there if the scheme and tactics etc were better...i think SU couldve won and I think the players know it...even if it seemed they were totally outclassed.

there are some here that strongly defend and use advanced metrics.

Biggest box score shocker is Marek’s line, one of the worst 35 minute games I’ve ever seen in my life.

But, but JB spewed in his WVA post game presser how "our offense runs through Marek" and that the stat sheet simply doesn't paint an accurate picture of his true value. ;)

He was a good player for us while he was here but did he really get better? It's something I've been thinking about for a bit. It seems like for four years we've been saying that he shows flashes of brilliance but followed by long stretches where he just disappears. He was just as inconsistent this year as he was as a freshman. His weaknesses then are still his weaknesses.

The only problem with that thinking is that we needed to have 5 out there. If not Braswell who? Griff? He was other worldly bad.

kadary/joe

edwards

that lineup gave us our best shot to get back in it offensively. you cant have edwards and braswell in at the same time when losing.

I don’t think we played to his strengths and did very little to incorporate him into the offense his entire time here. Playing out of position mixed with everything else not only hurt him but hurt us. Play his career out 10 times here with some different personnel mixed in I think he has a different career here 8 times.

I think he fell in love with taking a charge too much, while very valuable, I’d prefer he just play defense, but again, out of position we’re asking him to do things he may not be capable of and limit his success.

well it does and it did.

Weirdly enough, this was Marek's worst rebounding season (per 40) and it wasn't even close.

I think you can. You come back with your defense. You stay ahead with your offense.

well it does and it did.

And, that speaks for itself. It's a large part of why our offense has struggled so often as it has, especially against higher quality opponents.

they can say that all they want, but there is a reason the Hall of fame coach pulled him 3X. And it wasn't offense. As bad as he was at that.
the bull in the china shop blind pass was so bad, there's plenty of reason to think, we can't play this guy. i've never seen a go-to guy at the beginning of the season turn into this

It's funny how frequently those who hate JB prove him right over and over again. What is the most frequent thing he "spews"? I'll remind you "You're a much better coach when shots are going in." The geniuses posting here are absolutely playing right into that over the past month. Fools, all.

Closest downfall to this has to be Roberson.

sadly, that wasn't the worst part of the day for him. He totally forgot we were in a zone and pursued and chased guys all over the defensive court adding up to a wide open 3 for Houston.

You mean like in the first half?
When we went down by 12?

And then put “scorers” like Jesse & Kadary in?

And went on a run to tie it at 20 all?
its different in 2nd half vs first as there was less time in the game and jessie was in a good amount in 2nd half
