Thinking college football is amateur athletics isn’t reality. Instead of having the NFL pay for a development system they let colleges do it for them for free. College football players should be able to make as much money as a booster or company is willing to pay them.

Schools are making money. If it was amateur athletics then all college football should be like the division 3 model. Profits shouldn’t matter if it’s amateur athletics.

This line of thinking is like saying interns shouldn’t be compensated for the internships. If companies can pay interns they are going to attract a better pool of candidates to be interns. If some schools offer more NIL than other schools they are going to be able to attract better players that care about compensation. Interns don’t get compensated the same as associates or full time employees but some companies do compensate their interns and other companies don’t.
