Epoch/IL Bracketology: Men's Division I, Fourth Look

7. Syracuse (10-4)
RPI: 9
Top 5 Wins: Albany
Top 20 Wins: Duke, North Carolina, North Carolina
Games Remaining: Colgate

7 Seed? What? I don't see that happening. Loyola would be an interesting matchup though.

I don't have a problem with Maryland, Denver, ND and Brown being ahead of us.

Being behind both Albany and Yale is a stretch. Either Yale or Brown will have one more loss before Selection Sunday.

Agreed, I am thinking 5th or 6th seed, Yale should be behind us if they lose again.

LM Bracketology: Setting the Stage for Selection Sunday

Syracuse won't have to sweat Selection Sunday regardless of how its game against Colgate goes on Saturday, but whether it lands its traditional Sunday 7:30 p.m. first round game at the Carrier Dome remains to be seen. ...

9?

Three road OT losses after leading through out all three with a different goalie now and a five game win streak (assuming Colgate is a win), ridiculous.

JHU has lost to UVA and 7 goal loss to Rutgers.

I think the LM is WAYYYYYYYYYY off base. A 9 seed would be ridiculous. Cuse should be ahead of Albany, head to head is very important IMO. I think we get a top 5 seed.

Would expect to see Cuse ahead of Albany, Loyola, and Yale given much stronger SOS. Yale may have a beef if they defeat Brown.BTW Brown schedule is not rated very high. Definitely don't see them a #2. The EPOCH/IL is more credible IMO.

That LM bracket is a joke. If we take care of business against Gate then we should be a 5, possibly the 6 and get the home game Sunday night. I'm going to say against Navy or Nova. I can't see them having us play UNC or Duke a third time in the first round. I think the Hop gets one of those two.

I dont see Yale being a higher seed than Cuse, unless they win the Ivy League. However I will be extremely surprised if that happens, seeing as their best defensemen recently tore his ACL and they only beat Penn by 1 goal in their first meeting. As others have said, I don't see the committee being stupid enough to put 3 ACC teams + Denver on one side and Maryland + two Ivies on the other (IL bracket). Hopefully there will be a little more balance when the seeds are announced Sunday.

There are still a lot of variables to consider...if Hopkins loses to Rutgers, again, they aren't making the tournament and Rutgers probably will. Does Bryant have a strong enough resume to make it if they don't win the NEC? If both Brown and Yale lose on Friday night, Penn or Harvard will get the AQ and really shake things up

i'd be surprised if we're lower than 5 and could see us sneaking into a 4.

First and foremost, we have to beat Gate. Accomplish that and a loss by ND v. Army Sunday (unlikely IMHO) or a Brown loss to Harvard Friday in the Ivy semi or Penn/Yale in the final Sunday (assuming they advance), could let us sneak into the #4 spot. I still think the #5 or #6 spot is more likely. I'm rooting for Penn and Harvard Friday.

I just want to be a top 8 seed and bracketed with one of Maryland/Brown/Yale as the teams bracketed with Notre Dame and Denver will be in Columbus while Maryland and the Ivy teams will be in Providence.

Haven't looked but I predict Syracuse will play Bryant and or Brown

Swap Cuse for Albany in the bracket at the top of this thread and that's what we get. I do think they are going to split the 4 ACC teams evenly 2 and 2 on either side of the bracket

lest we forget. colgate. 9-7 last year. let's get this W and then project.

Gate at home on Senior Day is a little different than traveling there last year after they won the Patriot League and were a tournament team. This year they are 3-9, 5+ goal win on Saturday

i remember i got a pretty good sunburn. i wasn't expecting that pain either.

We shouldn't be taking anyone lightly at this juncture and after the ups and downs of this season. We need to bring it early and often on Sat. I think we will see some more run by Voight, McKinney and Solomon at attack. Lane is still out.
