Brady Hoke watch...

I like Matt Patricia, Sherill, NY, RPI grad, aeronautical engineer! and O lineman- meathead to boot!!! Grad assistant at Syracuse for 2-3 years as well

Don't know if Michigan would hire him though, that's a bit of a reach.

I would hire the Colorado St coach but his buy out is crazy

A school like Michigan can't hire him straight from NE. He needs to prove what he can do on his own first.

Now SU on the other hand......

But it's the same thing, defense isn't the problem.

I bet "being a michigan guy" wont be a requirement this time around.

Agreed.

Nor should it be. Go get the best guy you can [wish we'd adhere to that philosophy at SU... :bang::bang::bang:]

I agree. And even though he might be smart enough to figure out to hire a solid OC, cant take that risk if Syracuse is in the market next year, but he has a lot of qualities that would fit at Syracuse. I would bet that matt will be a successful HC at some point

If Syracuse hires a new coach, I would like to see either a proven HC albeit at a smaller level or an accomplished college offensive coordinator with solid pedigree

Agree 100%--can't afford to bring in a replacement who needs time to figure out the ropes as a first time HC.

I love how so many media members forget that Rich Rod hired G Rob to be his DC. He made his own bed in Ann Arbor with that decision and that's why the fans wanted him out.

@coachingsearch
Interim AD Jim Hackett says he wants a search firm that is familiar with Michigan. bit.ly/14IQx2Y

@FootballScoop
Hackett is explaining the most complicated search process ever. They are struggling. Not great.

@DanMurphyESPN
Jim Hackett: "I want to get rid of the word 'Michigan Man.' Maybe today you can write about that."

Michigan is so screwed.

Yes because most the names they are kicking around aren't viable options. they are screwed, I agree

My guess is this presser confirms that Harbaugh and Miles said No already. Let's go Addazio.

There's a whole book (really) on what went wrong for Rich Rod at UM. I tend to like the guy. His decision to hire GRob, which obviously did not work out well, is somewhat understandable given that GRob had a good reputation on the defensive side in both the pros and at Texas before coming to SU.

Look at what Rich Rod is doing right now...he is a good coach. He actually has more advantages where he is now than WVU, he will make that team a power in football.

"will make" I think they already are.

As Dan Dakich mentioned in today's hoops game, Michigan first needs to look at themselves. He pointed to Rich Rod as an example of someone who's a good coach but somehow couldn't get it done at Ann Arbor. He also mentioned that Hoke did well in building programs at Ball State and San Diego State yet couldn't make it work at UM. Rich Rod would appear to be the better example as he's done it both before and after his stay at Big Blue.

It'll be an interesting coaching carousel... if only SU would snag one of the newly out of work D-1 OCs...

He hired Shafer too. Both are very good DC's.

And the 3-3-5 will work in the pac10, not the B10.

It isn't the best defense vs power football. That said RR didn't have the right upbringing and was not a Michigan man and had to fight an uphill battle the whole time as some of the good ole boy Michigan alumni there just would not except that type of football and he was on the shortest of leashes.

Agreed--makes a ton of sense.

And if not Miles, I'd guess Harbaugh.
Harbaugh's wife doesn't want to leave the west coast and California specifically per reports
