Bridgewater, Geno, Kelly B, Francois,

Uh oh...memory problems, gbo? Recent head trauma by any chance? We might have to take you off the board for a little bit until you have passed our concussion protocol! Some...have never returned...
I'm too young for that haha

Kind of missing the point guys. Those guys were not great in the NFL. They were studs in College. We play college football.;)
It's kind of a muddled point as the pro scout said he would be a first round pick in the NFL, which they miss on all the time.

well if they were so good there'd be no 1st round busts...but ok
They're good because they're the best at what they do. Success% is not something that is in a vacuum. For instance, if you play baseball, and fail to get a hit 70% of the time over a 15 year career, guess what? You're a hall of famer. Kind of the same in scouting. If you're only right 40% of the time as an NFL scout, well then you're pretty much hitting par.
What the scout really is saying is that based on the only available evidence we have, this kid translates right now into a 1st round pick. He can't get into a delorian and fly into the future to see how he pans out.

That’s ridiculous. He’s a string bean. I wonder if he’s even ever been hit live by P5 defensive end.
Surprised to see this take so many times. Watson was skinny, but Lawrence has good size.

Lawrence is an uncommon freshman.
Maybe to pro scouts. Its one thing to be an uncommon pro talent vs being an uncommon college football talent. Our defense struggles vs dual threats. Lawrence may very well tear us to pieces through the air, but id rather go into this vs a pocket guy than DT

Understood, but the scarier college qb’s tend to be dual threats. Put me against Tennessee’s Manning, Michigans Brady, etc. rather than Florida’s Tebow, UL’s jackson and VT’s Vick.

Alls im saying is im relieved that if we must face this QB bestowed upon Clemson by the gods, at least hes a pocket and not a dual threat

I 100% agree with all of that. A great pocket passer is the lesser of 2 evils compared to a great D.T. Q.B.

It’s just relieving to head into a big road game like this feeling like we have the best chance possible to pull off an upset. I still think we have <10% odds but recent developments definitely help.

I think we had a much better chance against LSU/Miami last year. Does anyone remember our last trip down there, did not go well at all.

I do, but that was against Deshaun Watson right? Or was it Boyd? Regardless, we are a much better team.

Clemson’s death valley wont be 2/3 full like LSU’s was. Clemson isnt fake news like Miami was either.

I hate that I just said fake news

I agree. Big difference between NFL and CFB success. I also understand that defenses hate dealing with dual threats. Here's the thing that I've come to realize: KB wasn't a dual threat. His arm wasn't a threat. He was an above average runner, but an average passer (and that's probably being generous). With KB at the helm, defenses didn't have to respect the downfield passing game which made it tough to run, even with guys like Bryant, Etienne, and Feaster in the backfield.

Lawrence lacks Bryant's wheels, but is a deceptively mobile guy, and is truly special while throwing on the run. More importantly, though, he makes every aspect of the offense better. The running game and passing game are both better with him in there. The numbers reflect that. In approximately the same number of drives, the Lawrence offense has scored 94 points (13 touchdowns, 0 three-and-outs), while the Bryant offense has scored 52 (7 touchdowns, multiple three-and-outs). Everything is just different. I'm psyched about the change at QB1.

All that being said, I am worried about this game. Y'all beat us last year and have played us close in DV before. You have a plus veteran QB. Your offense is enough of a concern because I think it's a bad matchup for Venables, our slow linebackers, and our sketchy safeties. Now add that I don't know how the locker room will be affected by Bryant's departure--he was the most popular guy on the team. And finally, as great as Lawrence has been, he's still new. Even Watson and Boyd weren't always lights out in their first years starting. There are plenty of reasons to ignore the spread (now -25.5) and expect a competitive game.

With Lawrence as the starter, I think Saturday is going to be a packed house. It's going to be lit.

Our home schedule sucks this year. With Louisville sucking and FSU/TAMU having been road games, this is one of the big games.
