There was a great Washington Post article yesterday in which she was given a lot of props. I am so glad I got to watch her and to say hello a couple of weeks ago. She is always my favorite.

As of their last game, all the players are back although a few still with limited minutes. This really gave Brittney the opportunity to seal her place as a starter, and to step into the player she always could be. She seriously carries this team on her back.

Big wins Saturday (Aces) and last night (Lynx)!
 
What could have been - if Breanna went to SU she would have been an incoming freshman in the same class with Brittney. Regardless, it worked out great for both of them but it would have been something to see them play together then adding Alexis Peterson their 2nd year.
 
She’s on the Countdown show on ESPN and just mentioned Syracuse, talking about “you know since Syracuse that’s been my move” or something.

Brittney Sykes just had her best season. Now the Mystics need even more.

"Anyone who has spent time with the eight-year veteran nicknamed “Slim” knows she isn’t exactly shy with her thoughts. The passion is right there on her sleeve, and sometimes it boils over. And that’s what the organization wanted her to work on. Sykes quickly had an influential voice in the locker room and on the floor after she signed as a free agent in 2023, but that influence was going to grow in 2024. This is a transitional season for the Mystics, who retooled the roster and said goodbye to longtime starting point guard Natasha Cloud and two-time MVP Elena Delle Donne.

The Mystics need Sykes to be even more of a leader, especially with a positional tweak. She had the ball in her hands plenty last season, but Cloud was the unquestioned starting point guard who had led the league in assists the previous year."
 
Brittney sprained her ankle last night in the first 6 minutes of the game against Connecticut and didn’t return. Hopefully it’s not a major injury. Didn’t realize that Emily Engstler is also on the Mystic’s roster but is a very deep bench player not getting much time.
