Not that it changes my opinion on him, but Scout has bumped Ashton to 4*.

nice

Myles Davis now a ***

class is now ranked 44th

Helps our class rank too...not that the class rank means a damn thing...

We are ranked 44 now...hmmmmmm...

Nice for all of the star gazers who have themselves convinced that we cant recruit for couchburn

Weren't we ranked at 44 for some time last year, as well?

That's awesome. Hope dm at least gives him a look at qb. He seems to play it well as a mobile qb.

Let's hope he's bumping up his grades enough to qualify.

Scout continues to list AB as a TE rather than QB. What am I missing?

Looking back to the 2002 class, TOS had SU's incoming class above Alabama's.

109 in HCDM first year.

Right, the ranking system has a glaring flaw. We only brought in 14 players that year, vs 22 listed so far this year (one 2 star listed isn't an actual commit)where we are ranked 44th but have alot more players than some schools around us in that rankings and more points as a result.

Best way I use their rankings is to see similarly ranked schools, with similar number or commits to gauge where our recruiting is.

Right now we are recruiting on a similar level to Indiana, Maryland, Purdue, and NC State per scout FWIW. Not terrible company, and better than some other BCS schools and 21 spots higher with 6 fewer commits than MAC powerhouse Temple.

First time in probably 10 years that there are more "3's and 4's" than "2's" in the opinion of the services.

We (and the fan bases of other schools) like the star system a lot more when we get more 3s and 4s.

When you only get 2s, you have to resort to all those stale excuses (our coaches can "coach up"; our coaches are better with undiscovered gems). What fun is that?

hmm - sounds like Scout wants some SU subscribers back ;)

And Rivals doesn't. Not nearly as generous. 7th in Big East and not in their Top 50. Who to believe... I guess if the team continues to perform like 2011, we'll have our answer.

I've personally always preferred Scout's rankings. Even if Rivals has a recruit rated higher...

At the end of the day I think we're seeing a gradual improvement in size and athleticism. I still believe things are trending in the right direction and have faith in our coaches evaluation ability. This has been proven multiple times in the fact that other schools come after our recruits late in the process and the success our recruits have on the field as seniors. Look at Whigham, a relative unknown to start the process. Eskridge last year, a kid I think a lot of us are excited about. Furthermore, upgraded recruiting service ranking late in the year. I'm not sure what all of this means but I do know I'd lock up Wheatley and Adkins for as long as possible.

Just my opinion but you would lock Wheatley up for much longer with a promotion as opposed to money. Both would help but I thinkWheatley did OK in the NFL and he wants to be a HC at some point. I don't know how this fits the equation or anything of that nature, just commenting

i am a star gazer, but still believe even a doug marrone signed 2 star will make a huge impact. Being as diehard su football as they come (dont give two craps about bball and happy when its over so football back in picture) some of the fringe su fans will only look at stars. So if we have a couple 4* stars it can only open the eyes of those fringe fans and I dont care what these fringe fans really think...BUUTTTTT i'd still take those 10,000 fringers to show up for opening night vs northwestern,

I know.. weird to me too. I fully understand that I could never evaluate high school talent and project their college positions. I too understand that high school QBs are generally your best athlete unless the person is 280 lbs.. That said, even the prep school played him at QB and he fared very well.. While I wouldn't compare Broyld to Tyrod Taylor or Mike Vick just due to lack of comparison when it comes to body type, speed and arm strength, but I would say that his gameplay would seem to emulate theirs well. Do you need a Tyrod or Vick talent to be that successful at the college level?
