Bruce Pearl, abruptly retires

Well, it looks like he is going to run for Tuberville's open seat. You just can't make this stuff up.
I only know one very concrete political thing Bruce Pearl supports and it's definitely not relevant in Alabama lol.

That’s one way to get your family a job. Slimy as usual
Interestingly his first job with Auburn was as the assistant strength and conditioning coach. Curious hire, since his degree wasn't in exercise science, athletic training, or any health science field, but instead in marketing.

His kid got a 5 year contract?! What on earth
Haha. Unreal. No head coaching experience at any level. Only been involved in coaching for 5-6 years total (all under his father). Sound like a resume worthy of a 5-year HC contract at a SEC school. When I first heard he was being named HC I figured it was as an interim for the upcoming season.

That’s pretty insane.

I mean to be fair, we did the exact same thing. Although Red’s been in coaching longer than 5-6 years obviously.

Yes, Cuse hired within but I wouldn't say it was 'the exact same thing'. 1) the coach didn't step down right before the season and the administration had sufficient time to decide what direction they wanted to go in, 2) Red is not the coaches son, 3) in addition to the much longer coaching track record (as you pointed out), Red also coached at various levels and at other institutions, and 4) Cuse didn't give him a 5-year contract

Red played Euro pro ball after college for 10 years. He was an asst coach for 2 high schools, assistant with DC AAU basketball teams, an assistant at Va Tech under Seth Greenberg, an assistant at SU for 5 years, then associate head coach at SU for 7 years. This isn’t counting that he was a 4 year starting pg on SU that went to 3 NCAA tournaments (team was ineligible in 1993) in his 4 years here.
