Bruce Pearl has agreed to a new 8-year contract

Had to chuckle at the headline on ESPN saying "Auburn locks up Bruce Pearl for life." I know he has skirted with the laws of college basketball, but a life sentence seems a bit over the top, doesn't it?

Last year of his contract is worth $7.15m. This is what we’re up against folks. Be prepared to be let down when it comes to finding a prolific coach because these Sec schools are going to pay the Oats of the world any amount of money to stay

Kenny Payne, assistant for the Knicks is interested in the Louisville job. He was my number one choice for taking over for JB at SU.

There are only so many SEC jobs. We will find a good coach. We will have to pay more than we have though and if we get quality it will be worth it.

Can say what we want about Bruce Pearl...but he's a good game coach.
And he's actually built a powerhouse at Auburn.
One dumb foul away from an NCAA final 3 years ago.
And a Final 4-worthy team this year.

Add him to the long list of cheaters who did a little penance, and were rewarded big time in return. Really Auburn/SEC are perfect for him. If I were Calipari I'd be nervous.
It’s a different world to say the least with the coaching salaries and Auburn panicked that Abraham Lincoln, I mean Bruce, would take his Lake Michigan size ego to another desperate institution of higher education.

Bruce has certainly come a long way from about 10 years ago when he was out of coaching and flying economy on delta.

It's amazing how top 20 recruits line up to play for Pearl no matter what school he's at. I wonder why?

I know everyone bags on Bruce Pearl and Auburn for this, but if we had Bruce and had a top of 5 team this year would anyone be complaining? I sure as hell wouldn't be.
Yeah but Bruce Pearl apparently behind Rick Pitino for the next Cuse coach per the forum.

Best bet is to find the next rising coach in the lower ranks. Tony Bennett pre-Virginia or Oats at UB.

Does anyone know why Jabari Smith told JB to bleep off in the Bahamas.
Bruce Pearl said there was something behind it.

There was a long thread on this. You even posted in the thread.

I reread the thread. I made 2 posts about Devo taunting Seton Hall at the 2009 BET and one about players looking like the wanted the kid to go Timeout.

If Smith did that because of JB’s comments on Kessler then Smith is a jerk but Kessler was right to go to Auburn and JB should stop talking and be more positive in what he says.

Pearl is a snake oil salesmen and he would use those comments to negative recruit.

I just assumed if you’re posting in the thread you read the other posts too.

Great headline. If only it had happened. King of the cheaters
