Pretty much lost faith in Lester after seeing us run these screens as ineffectively as we have all year. They haven't even made any changes to the scheme for throwing these screens and then we throw them over and over. What.

How is it that this play is run across the college football landscape successfully except in CNY?
All the other teams seem to have 1 blocker vs. 1 defender or 2 blockers vs. 1 defender. We always, and I mean always, have 0 blocker vs. 1 defender or 1 blocker vs. 2 defenders...

Said it all afternoon: it works a lot better when you have somebody to block for the receiver after he catches the ball! (Gnashing of teeth sounds...)

What I mean exactly. We keep running it ineffectively. Make some changes or don't run it. Running that so many times made me lose complete faith in Lester, among a few other things but that especially.

Yes, identify which players are best at catching screens and which players are best at blocking for screens... We run that play with pot luck players willy nilly; kinda like all the other coaching decisions, so at least we're consistent.

Isn't this the perfect illustration for those (myself included) who question the competency of the coaching? This transcends injuries, or youth, or whatever other mitigating excuse one might have. This is a fairly simple play, conceptually and we never, ever, ever get it right despite the high volume of attempts. It is embarrassing.

This is a team what will run AAM on a naked pitch out wide and will throw bubble screens to Ben Lewis. The number one rule of coaching is to put your players in a position to succeed, and this coaching staff is abysmal at it.

Haha this is so tru, also the ball comes out of the qb's hand in approximately 7.9 seconds which doesn't help

I bet it was in the gameplan today because they wanted something to do if OL stunk like nc state

Yup. And b/c they thought they could beat Duke at the perimeter and b/c they needed to force Duke to respect the perimeter to take some of the heat off the middle of the line. It wasn't a bad plan at all, just not well executed for the most part.
