Buddy….

So we don't set screens well. We don't rebound well. We have trouble getting to three point shooters. What is it that is worked on in practice? How much is it talent vs development?

IMO its more of a personnel and scheme issue

I think a lot ofnour problems are those. Setting screens should be a skill that is not difficult teach though.

I started a thread about this a year or two ago, our screeners roll the opposite way that i was taught, they do it every time though so there must be a reason for it

Rewatched the Gtown game saw 1/2 dozen illegal screens ( or more) enough to get some open 3’s. Our screening needs to be worked on. Doesn’t seem like refs see the call well.

Screening is about toughness and making yourself big. We don't have the bodies or mindsets to establish legit screens. We do have players anxious to get out of the screen and get the ball back for a shot, but hunting shots is not a problem with this team. Maximizing the concepts of spacing and sharing to get shots is our problem.

This seems like an early season trend for Buddy. In the non ACC schedule Buddy struggled as well, then by ACC play he started to heat up, then in the tournament, he was lights out. One can hope that will happen this year.

This is true and gives me hope that he will turn it around. Sub 30% for Buddy from 3 for the full year = Boeheim's first losing season ever. I bet he finishes very high 30s, if not pushing 40%.
