Buffalo Bills 2025 Thread

If Josh Allen was not the QB. McDermott would have been fired years ago. Allen carries and makes this team. Cook now too. But McDermott is not a good coach. Allen does ALOT to mask McDermott’s deficiencies
McDermott took the team to the playoffs without Allen in his first year broke what a 17 year drought? He has done a lot of good, he's not perfect but lets not get carried away. He has had tremendous success over his tenure as the bills coach.

does having arguably the best player in football right now mask a bunch of sins? sure it does but lets not act as if McDermott is some twit or below average NFL coach because it's simply not true. Is he top 5 coach? Probably not but he's far from bottom 10 as well.

People have been jock sniffing the Packers coach for years, they are now 2-1-1. Dan Campbell has had some head scratching moments the past 2 years as well in the playoffs. It happens. The great Jim Harbaugh lost to the Giants and a rookie Qb yesterday.

Allen had the ball in his hands last year with a chance to beat KC, it didn't happen. Is that McDermott's fault? I don't think so

It also doesn’t help that he has this panic tendency where he loses the Forrest for the trees . You can’t get back timeouts. You can make up for yards lost or given up on future plays. Timeouts are not coming back .
would you rather he defend the 2 point conversion with 10 guys or try and stop a key 3rd down when they thought they should have been given the time to sub in? Is only having 10 on the field a mistake? Sure it is, doesn't mean he shouldn't use a time out to correct it. Mistakes happen, it was frustrating but not using the time out there with 10 on the field would have been far worse.

I get it, many fans don't like McDermott, I do but some of it seems a bit much. I agree his defenses have underperformed in the biggest moments but he has done a ton of good as the head coach as well. He isn't some incompetent boob that his detractors try to portray him as

People just can't have any nuance in conversation anymore. Either someone or something is flawless or not good at all at their job

It’s not that one time out. It’s all the time outs blown all the time all around the league. In the majority of situations the second half time out is worth more than the result of any one play for many reasons. One being that your challenges are tied to them.

The bills have shown time and time again under his stewardship to be suboptimal in close / late clock/ strategy management wise. I’m sure he’s a great coach between games and from the opening kickoff to about the latter 3rd quarter. Even later it it’s not close. Beyond that, he’s actually pretty bad. That rams game last year where he calls a TO and turned it into an on side kick game was a pretty striking example. He’s not alone., The NFL has plenty of coaches like him but they don’t have Josh Allen so they aren’t signifiant factors in the league.

The incompetent boob thing is something you made up. Never said he was that. Just that there are certain aspects of the game that he is not very good at.

7.5 favorites seems a bit much. I expect this to be a one score game and can see NE actually winning about 4/10 times

Seems a tad high. Perhaps influenced by the Bills 14 game home winning streak.
Divisional games also have a tendency to produce game scores with a smaller disparity than the true strength differences in the teams would predict. Now I’m assuming they’d take this into account when making the line?

Maybe… but maybe you know more than Vegas

Allen is so good it's ridiculous but we gotta get another WR in here, he needs a speed guy desperately.

That’s the first time I’ve seen an elbow drop used to punch the ball out
