So we can all agree this team has been relatively lackluster. I feel that way. Somehow the aggregate numbers still put them in the elite level.

8th in overall defense

That’s pretty much going to be a Super Bowl contender every year. Now a deeper study into the way they ended up at these levels tells us it’s somewhat misleading. Basically they’ve destroyed a few teams skewing the data (jets / Carolina without their QB, Pitt). I’m sure other teams have a similar story

I think a lot of the annoyed feeling is SoS based. One, the nerdy stuff like dvoa that adjusts for it isn't as favorable. Two, it was all set up - we never luck out with a schedule like the one this year and probably won't again anytime soon. The 1seed had to be a goal of theirs, hell even Thurman mentioned it to the team on Hard Knocks. Sucks to have blown it.
The Pass Defense does seem to have come around a bit with Bishop/Hairston emerging.

Agreed, though if your Buffalo you've got to split these next two, can't afford to go 0-2. Might feel home vs Cincy is more realistic then at the Pats
