Last year in the portal HCFB did a great job obtaining undervalued assets. McCord, Meeks, Grant, Washington were better players than their perception or opportunity.

This year it’s closer to buying high end sports cars with salvage titles.

Sometimes you can bring it back sometimes it was in a hurricane and there is sand everywhere and saltwater has destroyed the electronics

I agree with McCord and especially Meeks … Washington lost time his spot to the number 1 tackle in the class .. wasn’t Grant an all conference MAAC performer? I think that was more of a case of moving up to a big boy program much like the linebacker we just snagged.

Bring in Irving and Pringle and call it a day.

Rice, the WRs, and the Rutgers guy coming off of two ACLs all have major issues; behavioral, performance, or injury.

I don’t see the need.

McCord wasn't a distressed asset. He was a valuable asset that other schools were interested in, but Brown had a good relationship with him and his family and Syracuse needed a starting QB and the rest is history. I have always considered McCord to be a unicorn transfer for Syracuse as he was a proven P4 starter with good stats at Ohio St. Don't expect that to happen again.

FWIW - I think too much is being made about the baggage (I would like to allow myself to walk this back if I missed something/someone).

The Texas kid got a weed possession. That’s not even a crime in like 35 states and refusing to give someone their car keys back… certainly 0 arrests is better than 2, but I feel like the public reaction to this kid is like he has felonies.

Interesting analogy.

One of the ways one might be considered a distressed asset is to have a ding or two that doesn’t really matter.

As CNY states on the Texas kid.

The smart vulture guys know how to see through that.

All relative I guess. I had a trip to the Florida coast recently. I was out for an evening run and accidentally scared the crap out of a Bermuda-shorts-wearing-dad hiding in the bushes. Lol I was rather confused why he was hiding in the bushes and scared of a passerby until I saw the vape and remembered where I was.

Is that what I said?

It’s not just that.

Interesting analogy.

That’s a nice way of putting it. He has no clue if they are “undervalued” or not because they haven’t played a snap here.

My best car had a salvage title
I've had other "better" cars not have half the life of that one and way more problems.
As long as you have someone in the know looking it over you will know to pass or buy on those "salvaged" title "cars".
I know Fran is not a trained Psychologist or Therapist, he uses his teaches of DART, community, and god to help this young men. I believe that's why he has no problem brining these troubled men in to "kick the tires".
Will everyone work out 100% no, will every kids we get with no bad pass work nope.
Until proven otherwise Fran knows it's all about the S and NO one is above it (see Alford and Pena).

What on earth are you talking about. Not 1 single portal kid fits your post. 10 of them.

Bertran left the Bama team but I haven't read that he's had off field issues.

Angeli ND
Collins LSU
Russel South Carolina
Woody Iowa
Thomas Marshall
Bertrand Bama/ATM
Collins Louisville
Rooks Boston College
Reese Cal
Bryant South Dakota

Rice, Cook, Bridges.

It’s not just the off the field stuff.

Not too concerned with the baggage on a few players. Character and morals are pretty much irrelevant nowadays.
What is relevant is focus, effort, maximizing your potential, eliminating behaviors that get in the way of success.

They just dont like Fran Brown.

Every chance they get, they bash Brown.

Look through their post history.
Like or not I think he's just pointing out a concern of the current kids they are chasing in the portal. Definitely a pattern whether they commit or not who knows? We shall see how many actually play at Syracuse if any

You’re insane. Who is bashing anyone?

You think you’ll find me bashing him in my post history? Good luck with that.

Bizarre

Well of course, because you have it private.

Bashing might be strong but you certainly find every way to cast doubt and criticize him and its bizarre.

I know you liked Dino and were upset we fired him but its time to move on.

EMBRACE COACH FRAN BABY!

You are out of your mind.

I didn’t know there was a setting that blocked searches.

Have at it you goof.
