It isn't an intermittent activity that occurs periodically throughout the year and then goes away, or an optional process that occurs only when the head coach feels like devoting some attention to it.

This kid is a terrific prospect.  Him leaving MSU, and being from a location squarely in our recruiting area [Canada] is akin to pennies from heaven -- but only if we can make up for lost time.  If we don't prioritize him, then he sure as hell isn't going to prioritize US, because there will be no shortage of suitors.

On paper, we have a major hole in the pivot next year [hell, THIS year].  We can remediate that gap by landing a highly rated, high potential big man who is physically suited to step in and contribute right away, but only if we put in the work required to convince him to come here.

Or we can roll with what we have.  Or JB can kick the can further down the road and keep his fingers crossed that some transfer will [1] be available and [2] be receptive to us recruiting him and [3] choose to come here.
