C.J. Fair article from Baltimore Sun

Sounds like Thickburger is on pace for a pretty good year. Coach B with some big dreams saying he thinks Fair will be one of the best out of Baltimore ever.

He is easily going to be my favorite player and going out on a limb here I think he will be the best player on the team this year. Second team All-ACC.
Agreed, he sounds like a great kid and a hard worker.

Wow, VERY high praise from JB. Can't wait to peep the new&improved Thickburger!

Very high praise, but reading into some of JB's statements it sounds like the coach is still considering bringing him off the bench, “He’ll get more time. We’ll look to him a little bit more when he’s in there."

I think that's accurate. I think he'll play starter minutes but won't be one of the first five on the floor this season.

I think Southerland starts at forward with Joseph.

I think it will be Xmas...

You can try and spin that article anyway you want, but CJ will be the starter. JB didn't give all that praise, going clear back to knowing how good he'd be after an injury, to have him be the 6th man. Southerland, Christmas---please!

Spin the article? I just think Boeheim will start big, and go small later in the game.

I don't think Xmas gets too much run this year unless both Baye and Fab get into foul trouble.
I think CJ starts at the 4 with South backing him up. Kris gets most minutes at the 3.

I would be stunned if Christmas starts. Think of a less talented Hakim Warrick, but a much more talented team.

CJ will come off the bench. In that lineup thread I predicted Xmas to start. Fair will play more minutes though. There are just some kids you get, that while you may not make a promise, you get the sense they will start unless they really play themselves out of the spot.

Fab could be odd man out if he hasn't improved and Xmas to Center

Nice to hear that CJ worked on the two things he needed to. Strength and range on his J.

JB-I think he can be a dominant player before he leaves here.

If he shows some of that dominance this year this team could really shine.

No. A. Fab has improved B. There would be no difference between Fab on offense last year and Rak on offense this year. Not sure about the defense either.

The promise for this SU team -- CJ, Melo and Keita each have an opportunity for a bigger role, & will play much better than we saw last season. CJ showed all-around skills -- needs to get stronger to win battles inside. Melo -- better fitness, show he can guard someone, relax. Keita -- get stronger, add just a little bit of inside scoring. We pretty much know what we have on the perimeter; how these 3 sophs play will determine how good SU will be. Can hardly wait.

“I just want [Syracuse fans] to know that I really worked on my game a lot this summer, I improved a lot,” Fair said

+1
Thank you CJ! Words can't express. Sounds like he did it for us as much as himself. Sounds like he is going to be a great Leader for us.

James could be a hell of a player. Im just saying if its confidence that is his problem thats probably not good advice. As the long missed M0qui has said James could be something special.

We could very well have one of the top 3 guard lineups and/or a top three sf lineup as well with three legit somewhat younger bigs on top of it. It was four but we have to deal with the devastating loss of Riley.

I think James is an interesting player b/c he is truly unique. CJ and KJ are somewhat similar in some ways and Triche/Waiters/Jardine are unique but not really stark contrasts with one another (none is a marksman, for example, and none has a complete enough game that he renders the other obsolete). But Southerland is a great shooter with good size and showed enough toughness on the boards, that i wonder if there will be games and stretches where he allows the cuse to really spread other teams out -- draw an opposing big man out from the basket and give KJ and CJ room to slash.
