From the Pittsburgh area and watch every Duquesne game (yes, really.) Hima has potential on the defensive end as a rim protector but not much more. Still very much raw and a project. Don't expect him to be the center of the future, but enough experience to be a serviceable defensive backup as Carey develops.

Happy to answer Hima questions!

Oof, if this is the guy, we're committing to him for 3 years?

6-11, 240#. And he can rebound.

After that I don't know much about him.
He can rebound? Based on the 2.8 rpg that he accumulated in garbage minutes for the worst team in the Atlantic 10?

Hustles and plays hard, seems to be good at timing blocks and defending. Put backs and rebounding look to be a strength along with a soft touch with those hooks. Yeah he played lower level competition but for a good backup to Jesse I would have 0 issues with this.

Thought JB and staff were just gonna let the chips fall where they may. Seems kind of like they've learned from recent mistakes of not getting capable depth to give our starter(s) a break.

He got 10 boards. Against Davidson.

Maybe it was against John Davidson? ;)
Duquesne lost by 24 points. They're terrible. He played 31 minutes. By default he's going to get rebounds playing 31 minutes in a blowout.

Duquesne was the worst team in the Atlantic 10 by a longshot. This kid struggled to get minutes on that team.

As context, if memory serves correctly, he's only been playing organized basketball since high school. Would be interesting to see him develop with Griff, given size and length. Fans expectations for him can be closer to Chukwu as a player-type, rim protection and not much more. Still, a backup to eat minutes and contribute is what they're looking for, and obviously was not easy to find.

This kid will be a great locker room guy and appears to be a very hard worker.

Mounir always has an infectious positive attitude and great energy for his teammates during training sessions.

Here is an article on him from late in the season.

Surprised they would be interested in a freshman. 7 foot 7 wing span. Maybe JB is thinking he can be a MBK type that focuses on defense, will be content to be a role player and stay for 3 seasons?
