Cal Postgame

I have NEVER seen it so empty, even for early season games against cupcakes while the students were away.
the weather has been horrible all night. heavy snow mixed with ice. roads are treacherous. whole city lost power for a while. lights flickering across the whole county. i hope the brave souls get home safely.

He makes great plays, and then he makes the absolute worst plays, often back to back. No argument at all. But people forget the good plays because of how bad the bad ones are - air balls from 3 feet away, traveling at the end of the game, air balls from the line, etc.

He's so goofy. He makes that layup over Bell and just starts losing it and woofing to the crowd, etc. Get back on DEFENSE! lol

You just traveled to almost lose the game - lock in for once! lol At this point, you gotta just laugh.

Our guards played well. Will Kyle was great. Soare was good when he was out there. Sadiq White had some terrific minutes, and should have played some of the last 30 minutes. Donnie did play well in the 2nd OT, but he was a walking dead man for the rest of the game. Just awful. JJ with awful plays and great plays. Kiyan with too much game time, and Melo left early anyway.
Something had to be up with Saddiq for him not to get back in there.

Ames is a player. How did he barely play for UVA last year? I’d take him over either of our starting guards.
Not me, at least from this game. 10-25 from the field, 0-5 from 3, 3-3 ft, 1 reb, 2ass, 1 steal, 5 turnovers . I imagine if he played for us, there would be plenty of complaints about him with those stats plus in a loss.

JJ, when he picks up his dribble in crunch time:

Disagree big time with this. He’s no different than JJ. Yes, has some ability and looks talented. Quickness with the dribble. But his 10-25 performance for only 23 points lost them the game IMO.

Look at his stats for the year. They blow JJ and George out of the water.

I'm in Albany, watched the game without volume, so had no idea. Thanks for the context.

If JJ and Bell played a one on one game where somebody had to win by two, they would play until the end of time because nobody would play anything resembling defense.
It was somewhat fitting that 41 minutes Bell had one rebound and zero assists. Somewhere JB is having a nice little chuckle.
It was shocking how despite the fact that Kingz repeatedly went by Bell like a traffic cone, when we called a timeout to set up a play Kingz apparently was not even a consideration.
JJ appeared to be under the impression that we were trying to extend the game despite the fact that we were winning. That travel was a special gut punch even by his lofty standards.
Another only Syracuse moment when our point guard decided to play doctor when Kyle got injured.
With our season basically over it was not stressful and surprisingly enjoyable to watch this wildly entertaining game. I can’t help but think that if Cal is a so-called bubble team, there is no excuse why we shouldn’t be either.
Despite the fact that everybody has gone home Cal might still be in this.

Fair enough. Maybe this was an off game, but, frankly, I thought he was a ball hog. Get your teammates involved when the shots aren’t dropping for you.

I felt like Camden could have really hurt us more than he did and Ilic cleaned up everything inside yet Ames just kept shooting. Good for us though today.

JJ is limited but he is much better than Chris Bell

Ames tried to take over when Pippen fouled out. Camden shot it well. He’s their version of Betsey. Like Bell it doesn’t look like he had any game off the dribble. Cal really had nothing off the bench. They are entirely reliant on the two starting guards doing everything.
