Wrote AD Wildhack two weeks ago citing the growing sentiment for Sean to be so honored.-At home vs. Clemson.
-Honoring Floyd Little.
-Leading the nation in all purpose yards.
Sean Tucker comes out wearing 44. I’ve been hesitant in the past and was against bringing it back but boy, if there ever was a time, it’s now. 44 swag is going to be littered all over that stadium Friday night. The crowd would go insane if Tucker runs out of the tunnel with it on. Tucker not only deserves it but it would generate a TON of hype for a program that desperately needs it. Couple it with a Clemson win and SU absolutely crushes the PR for the weekend. It’s literally such a no brainer.
Also, what better way to Honor Little than passing the torch of his legacy?
Agree. But the only living name on the list that matters is Jim Brown. If all want it to be awarded to Tucker except Brown, they aren’t going to allow it.Dino has said publicly that for 44 to be given out, the players who wore it in the past should give the nod first. But he also said that decision is above him.
I'd like it to happen Friday, but the following may be more likely:
Sean will be required to meet all of the available 44s, and that will take time. The University will get wind, and decide to establish a 44 Committee. They'll study economic and community impact, and it will then go on to the city. The Mayor will inexplicably vote no, but even worse? Through a bizarre contractual loophole, Nancy Cantor will have a vote. She'll argue that the standard for 44 is too stringent, and insist that 42 is good enough.
Eventually, they go through other channels, and figure it out. 7 years after Tucker is drafted, his honorary 44 jersey is raised at the half of a noon Syracuse/Marist football game. In a bizzare twist, the Jersey will be spelled ORNGE.
Yes, lots of things go unnoticed when you’re at the game. People in my section don’t even realize another QB is in even after the announcement.I'd say that 80% of the crowd would not even have a clue without an announcement.

Yeah if you want to create a moment, there needs to be an announcement. Before the first offensive play Mr Excitement could say something like “in at running back, wearing number 44, Sean Tucker. “. I think at least 25% of the crowd would hear it and/or understand the significance.
During the introduction. 1 second before the team comes out, and the crowd is fired up. On the big board, Dino appears, and says "STOP!", as all the lights come on, and the music goes off.thats because you can hardly understand mr excitement

My opinion is that if Jim Brown blocks this for his own selfish reasons (because that's all it would be) he can pound salt.Agree. But the only living name on the list that matters is Jim Brown. If all want it to be awarded to Tucker except Brown, they aren’t going to allow it.
