Camping World Bowl

Ugh, I was at that game. What a horrible What feeling. All game long I was thinking, "ok, this is where we turn it on and run away with it" only to be sorely disappointed. Actually, disappointed is not a strong enough word.

It's unlikely that this would happen now that they beat Texas, but imagine a matchup against WVU in the Camping World Bowl.

Unlikely. WVU is likely to finish 2nd in Big 12. Syracuse is likely to finish 2nd in ACC. Somebody will go to Peach Bowl.

they should have "outdoor man" mike baxter doing the commercials for the bowl

Get a life

get a life was a big one to me and the other was the day Micheal Vick choose VT over Cuse...and then the missed xtra point against Temple

Would be nice for the style of offense they play. I'd have to watch from home. Orlando/Kissimmee that time of year on short notice is going to hurt my pockets.

They became tougher times living in the one horse town.

But man did they get way tougher.

I feel like I talk about the GRob years the way my grandparents talked about the Depression years.

SI has us going to the Music City Bowl in Nashville vs. hometown team Vandy. I may be the only one, but I prefer Nashville to Orlando.

A music scene that is far more than that country schlock. Think I'd go.
Given your board name it doesn't surprise me. For me, the music scene wouldn't cross my mind when considering a desireable bowl destination. For me it would be

1. Weather
2. Weather
3. Weather.

I can't ever get time off of work around bowl season so really, it doesn't matter to me. I hope the players get to go where they prefer.

As I recall the area around the Camping Bowl Stadium is pretty rough. Lots of people trying to get you to park on their lawns, driveways etc.

yeah if it's where it's always been it's a pit, think they renovated the facility but doubt the area has changed.
Sun Bowl such a cool looking venue but El Paso is rough. Drove through and didn't care to stop actually I think I accelerated. I would probably stay somewhere else for a few days and drive in and out of El Paso day of game.

Ill take music city bowl over any of these type bowls, best destination of any bowls I have seen us mentioned in for sure.

Please god let this happen. Live in Tampa and heading to NOLA for New Years on the 29th. This would be the dream scenario considering something catastrophic would have to happen for them to get stuck in the garbage Gasparilla Bowl in St Pete.

Eh, it's different, but the Sun Bowl's right on campus and it's not such a bad destination. The stadium is literally the last building on the American side of the border and it's got a cool view from the side of the mountain. The area around campus isn't like what we're accustomed to in the Northeast but it's OK, and the community really supports the bowl.

Was there for the Pro Bowl last year, the stadium is old and not really updated much and as others have said not in a good part of town.

Not to mention downtown Orlando is nothing special overall anyways...for night life and bars, Nashville def has the upper hand.

Yeah I put Orlando probably on the bottom of my bowl list to be honest other than Detroit.

Mesilla, NM is 45 mins away
Marfa, TX is 2.5 hrs away
Van Horn, TX is 1.5 hrs away

All are unique in their own ways...also remember you can run your vehicle at 90 mph on I-10 in West TX with little chance of getting pulled over (listed speed limit is 80 mph)

I have a buddy in Santa Fe, NM and would most likely start there and work our way down and stay somewhere the night before.

90 ? Not if I'm driving ;)

Downtown El Paso is actually fine. Just avoid the Lower Valley and Northeast neighborhoods. UTEP area is not a problem. Do not even think about going into Mexico.

Find it interesting that ESPN is predicting SU in the Camping World Bowl and they are broadcasting the game. Wonder how much influence the networks get in terms of the teams selected.
Probably not very much since, IIRC, the only ACC bowl game ESPN doesn't broadcast is the Sun Bowl (CBS). It's kinda hard to believe that ESPN would want a team in Bowl Game X that they broadcast as opposed to having them in Bowl Game Y that they also broadcast. You also have the bowl committees trying to decide who of the potential invitees is going to take the most hotel rooms, etc.
