I give you this that your theory atleast makes SOME sense. If Dino was able to say it then I wouldn’t be as upset.Have I told you my theory about how Rhino being out screwed everything up?
Devito played very well against Ohio. Our offense looks like it has way more upside with #16.
I really don’t get how this HC didn’t give him the keys against Ohio and actually put him in a spot to do his thing against Rutgers.
I mean
I'm convinced at the very least we see more of a split vs Ohio if we have Rhino.I give you this that your theory atleast makes SOME sense. If Dino was able to say it then I wouldn’t be as upset.
However like what the hell is going on out there.
What is exactly the offense?Because Tommy was better through Spring and fall camp, at running the offense. If you feel like you are playing 3d chess, its probably difficult to say that so many of your plays may not work, that what you really need is someone who can improvise. To the staffs credit, it seems they are completely changing the playbook to Shraders strengths.
I think this is the answer to your question. What is exactly the offense?
I'm not going with loyalty to a player, but loyalty to the system. We all complained about lack of crossing routes, slants, intermediate passes, etc. For a couple years. It didn't change. I'm of the mindset that Devito "may" have found more success, had that happened. Either way, I'm happy it finally happened now.All the above is true, but there’s a phrase for the biggest factor…….”loyalty to a fault”
Cost us the RU game without question. But I get how it can be looked at as a positive trait (loyalty that is). I was calling for Shrader from day one based on physicality and measurables alone and remain disappointed it didn’t happen sooner. Between his horrendous in game decision making and this it will likely cost us a bowl season
As has been said many times previously, Devito is a great practice QB, and he may have well and truly looked to be the better candidate in both Spring and Preseason. And, maybe Shrader needed a bit more time (as CIL stated), I don't know. I think Cuseregular also brings up a very good, if not unfortunate, point regarding Babers' thought process. Our offense looks like it has way more upside with #16.

I’ll get killed for this but I don’t think Elmore makes as gigantic an impact as this would imply.Have I told you my theory about how Rhino being out screwed everything up?
All good points. Again, I think it was Dino's loyalty to the system. I wonder if it had been geared towards Devito's strengths, if things would have been different? Either way, it will be interesting to see how Devito looks in a different program. He may, very well, light it up. If its the same ole same ole? There you go.As has been said many times previously, Devito is a great practice QB, and he may have well and truly looked to be the better candidate in both Spring and Preseason. The staff cost the kids a chance against Rutgers:For all the grief the coaching staff should receive, I don't think this is one. They brought him in, then gave him the keys after 3 games. Seems reasonable to me.
when was the last time the offensive had 3 legit TD drives in one half in an ACC game? The staff cost the kids a chance against Rutgers:
If Shrader is given the keys right away we can beat Rutgers.
We better get to 6 wins or that game will bite us.
We scored 7 points against Rutgers.
7 points.
Believe me, I understand your point, but I think it is easier said than done obviously. I'm impressed they actually could detach themselves from the devitos. The staff cost the kids a chance against Rutgers:
If Shrader is given the keys right away we can beat Rutgers.

Seriously? Tons more read option and RPO game. Very different plays being called. Opposing defenses rarely cared about Tommy during the read option, if ever. Backside defender now has to respect Shrader’s legs and can’t crash down the line after Tucker. What is exactly the offense?
Shrader is improvising and getting 8-10 yards a rush when he doesn’t have his first read.
Devito never did that but what the heck is the offense?
Shrader wasn’t used properly against Rutgers.
DeVito didn’t lose the Ohio game but he didn’t exactly pop that game.
92 yards passing = playing very well?Devito played very well against Ohio.
He played well but Shrader wasn't given a chance. I dont blame Dino for going with Tommy against Ohio.Devito played very well against Ohio.
the QB who "can't throw" throws for more yards than that when he starts...92 yards passing = playing very well?
I agree that his game impact is inflated by our board.I’ll get killed for this but I don’t think Elmore makes as gigantic an impact as this would imply.

I do for Rutgers. By my source Dino wasn't listening to his OC.
