I truly don’t believe Red understands coaching. What do we have to lose by keeping JJ out there? Ok, he gets his third. Big deal. Rather keep it even in the first half. Even stranger was keeping him out there for a few min before taking him out. Puzzling stuff.

wrong. The game was lost when he decided to try and be the savior at the end of the game. Plenty of wide open teammates but he just drove into traffic and crashed.

Game was tied at 62 with 9:30 left in game so, no, game was not lost in the first half.

Even at 82-80, we needed a stop and a bucket. Instead we got a lay up on a drive that started 20 feet from the basket and a Cuffe 3 at the other end.

Like JB, don’t like JB, but Cuffe is not taking that shot with JB on the sideline.

Another thing that didn’t help was red not calling off the pressure when they didn’t need it. this is a vestige of the old regime. Fouling way too early and over aggressive on pressure when you just need a stop . Was it the Miami game where our pressure resulted in Cuffe in the McNeil rim protector spot? What a joke

Oh ok, so having to fight back didn’t have anything to do with it. Could have been tied at the half with JJ in.

I disagree. I agree with the OP. We fell behind by too much. Yes, we tied it up but those pts could and should have put us ahead.

That's fine. We can agree to disagree. I will never agree that a game was lost in a 7 minute stretch in the first half when the game was tied halfway through the second half.

We were also already down 5 when Starling subbed out and we were down 9 when he subbed back in so, in those 7 minutes when he sat, they outscored us by 4. Hardly back-breaking.

We are so used to trailing that people find it hard to believe that it is what leads to most of our losses. We should not need to come back in EVERY single game.

It is true the game is 40 minutes long. One period of time does not define the game. You can argue all you want the different points of the game were the turning point. Indeed there were a ton of missed opportunities throughout the game that were missed. The game was not lost though until JJ decided it was hero ball time. I am glad some ways he did that, wanting to place the game in his hands shows his mindset of being the best player on the floor, go and stop him if you can. At the same time, he could have done the exact same thing except gone for the easier assist instead of a circus two. In the end it was the defense that lost us the game plain and simple. Or rather, lack of.

We dug an unnecessary hole. Maybe we could have been leading at the end.
We’re talking about a team that dug a 25-3 hole against a mediocre Stanford team. That’s some digging
