That was only meant as a clarification. The poster I responded to didn't think Huggins would have hugged Butler had the injury been the same as Ware's.

In fairness to Pitino, I heard his postgame comments on Mike and Mike this morning (just before they had JB 0n) and he said he was initially scrambling trying to find a towel to cover up the injury to try to spare the other players from seeing it.

You have to give Pitino credit for being able to focus his team after that. He was emotional in his presser and came off as very human.

I loathe Hancock for his style of play on the court BUT he seems like the type of player you'd love to have on your team or love to hate if you're playing against him. We've had a few of those ourselves.

Hats off to the kid for being able to step up and be there for his team mate in a time of need. I wouldn't have been able to go near most likely. I wouldn't have been able to stomach it and what's seen cannot be unseen in situations like that.

Completely agree with your second paragraph. If you look at the pics in the moments after the injury, you can see the rest of his teammates on the bench scatter as far away as they could - probably because it was the most gruesome thing they ever saw and were on the verge of getting sick.

Pitino said his first reaction, since he didn't see the actual injury was to go and try to help Ware up, but when he saw what he saw, he nearly threw up. I think many of us had that same reaction. Once he saw that the trainers were reacting as they do, he knew he had to help his team recover from that shock as well. He may not have hugged his one injured player, but he certainly helped the rest of his emotionally injured team recover by his actions.

And not to get too gruesome here, but the reaction of the Duke kid who shot the ball makes me think he may have actually heard the break. Any mentions of that in the media yet?

Major props to Hancock for composing himself and being there for his teammate. I remember in a high school game our pitcher took a line drive off the face and was understandably writhing in agony and generally in shock on the ground. Our coach knelt down and held his hand until the ambulance got there. Staying calm in such a tough situation is about the best thing you can do if you are not a medical professional.

There is absolutely nothing anyone (other than medical personnel) can do for Ware in that situation. The poor kid practically had his leg ripped off below the knee.

Laying down with him and saying "It's going to be alright" isn't going to cut it. Pitino's only option was to console his teammates.

When you see something like this live on TV (and I did) you get some understanding of post traumatic stress syndrome. I can't imagine the horror that some of our troops witness. I think I can more fully understand the effects. Incredible what we put people through.

I saw the leg bend and I had no desire to see that visual again. If I was anywhere near him I'm pretty sure I would have lost my lunch.
