Candidates for a new OC -- Nunes article

Understood, that wasn't my point. That was his first stint as OC directly from being a HC in HS. This board would have melted down if Shafer had done that.
sorry, i missed your point.

i would love it. there wasn't any talk of deciles and quintiles - his high school teams were amazing. and he brought a bunch of recruits.

we hired a risky offensive coordinator hoping he'd recruit - malzahn's recruiting was a sure thing because they just followed him

it was weird, for sure though.

i'm ok with a dIII or even a high school guy but they have to be obviously great. lester was good, not great, at elmhurst

i like what UB did. they rolled the dice bigtime, big upside, could be disastrous too

UNLV hired a head coach directly from high school. As far as I can tell, he doesn't have any college coaching experience except as a grad assistant. Granted. it is non-BCS level but still thought it was interesting.

Gotta give Lester a chance to run his offense with Hunt in there. Am I optimistic? Not really, and it's not just on Lester, I think our WRs generally blow outside of Ishmael. Utilizing the TEs a lot sounds good to me, partially because the WRs generally blow outside of Ishmael. We shall see.

I feel bad for Hunt. This will be his 3rd system in 5 years. Being a QB from NYS he was already years behind Southern QB's from a developmental standpoint. I'm in the same boat as you. I don't think we should be expecting a good season from an offensive standpoint.

i like cristobal. was at rutgers and is a great recruiter and very good coach. not at all sold on tim brewster. was poor as a hc at minny but does have nj--pa experience in recruiting.

Looks like Nunes likes peering into a Crystal Ball most of all, even if it's detrimental at this point.

Then cue the "the offense is on its 3rd system in five years and Shafer deserves another year" posts when next season is worse than this one.

You don't think publishing at article on potential replacements before he's actually installed his offense isn't a little off?

I generally like John's writing - but putting that out there in the last leg of recruiting before signing day - could be considered "undermining".

I'm sure they'll say "hey - we're just a blog! This is what we do!"

The good news is that with the lack of any identifiable system last year, this year and likely next year, its not really like he's had to learn 3 systems.

I can ask some of them on Twitter.

You can drop your briefcase full o my cash at my house.

This thread got some mention on the twitterwebs. Since Nunes is in Seattle, I think this counts as taking it national.

I wouldn't be too sure about that. We will probably lose 2 coaches after NSD. Good chance McDonald is 1 of them.
he's doing a lot of recruiting for us right now would suck if he left
