I know a lot has been said about leadership on the 2019 team and some me-first players (Babers said as much). Who do we see in 2020 filling that gap and being captains next year?

FWIW Bailey mentioned that Coleman pointed to Mikel Jones and Benson as Future leaders, though it might be hard to do it as True Sophomores. I think Hackett would be a great candidate, as well.

Seems like we usually have 3 or 4. I'll say Servais, TD, McKinley & maybe slightly out on a limb, Mikel Jones. He always seems to play hard. He's very vocal, and with him being basically the lone LB with real experience, I think he'll try and make the LB room "his."

Edit: Also can throw Josh Black in there. Kid works hard & seems like someone younger guys would look up to.

Servais is a four year starter. He should be in the mix. Heckel should be if he can play. Agree with Hackett. Trisha has to be considered.

On defense, Bear, Black, Kingsley, maybe Trill and Cisco?

l watched Servais the last couple of games at Tackle and it was shocking how nasty he was getting after it and hitting people. Sometime after the whistle, sometimes chippy. I personally liked it. These guys need some attitude. Servais has my vote.

To me there is no question Trill & Cisco (along with Iffy) are the most talented players on our defense. Do you think Trill & Cisco are leaders? I read things on here about them "only caring" about posting their highlights on social media. I have zero idea if there is any truth to that (I would hope not), but given you're much closer to the program than most, I'm curious on your thoughts as far as who the real leaders are on/off the field.

I thought I heard, on here, that Dino doesn't do team captains, only weekly ones. Is that not accurate?

Weekly captains for half the season.

Then the team votes on permanent captains for the rest of the season.

Did i just read Hof was a three time captain? Wow

I don't know. I am not privy to what happens at early morning workouts. I don't see what happens during practices. I only see what happens during games.

These guys are all key members of the team. I find that sometimes the best way to get someone to be a leader is to empower them to lead. A lot depends on the individual. Some gravitate to it, some need to be gently nudged, some will never be able to do it.

I hope these guys can lead. The most experienced guys are the ones in the best position to do it.

There aren't a ton of experienced guys in the secondary...Iffy is another one that might be a candidate. I hope some rise to the challenge. I agree with the original post there. The leadership on the 2019 team was not great from day one and I think this played a role in the disappointing season.
