The meaningless LSU v AU game ran long. The losing coach thought he had a chance, when he really didn't, so he called timeouts. There are TV timeouts. The refs got whistle happy. Then you wanted to get your seniors in, so there were more timeouts. I understand some of that. It happens.

But, then, then! The LSU game ends and you show all the hugging, credits etc. 30-40 seconds of who cares. All the while, the Syracuse game is 3-4 minutes in and running. Then you transition from the end of the LSU game to ... commercials! You SOBs. A minute or so of commercials, all the while the SU game is running (on the internet feed).

Finally, after 3 commercials, you hastily jump to the SU game. ...only to call a TV timeout literally 5 seconds later.

5-6 minutes in and we're finally watching the game.

It reminded me of the much-maligned "CBS Wheel". Horrible.

Sorry, had to get that off my chest again. May the bits and bytes from this post float into the cosmos for eternity.

where do you live?

Agree 100% Swish. Completely unnecessary and annoying on all fronts. Thank God they don't do regional coverage of tourney games anymore and you are able to see any on a different channel. Yesterday reminded me of how obnoxious that coverage can be.

.

I think this happens without fail every time the game before the one I want to see runs long. It's almost like they try to do this on purpose.

NYC left the UCLA game early to get to Syracuse.

Texas viewers saw exactly as Swish described. CBS Blows

Living in the Charlotte area, I was going nuts too. Kept texting my sis who was at the game...at least CBS could've gone to split screen or put the score in the top corner or something rather than the lame coming up next Syracuse vs. L'ville graphic.

I wondered outloud to my wife, would they have let it run over if it was Carolina/Duke in our slot? Agree it was a joke to run Auburn/LSU to the bitter end.

Just wait until we are in the ACC and there is an UNC or Duke game on CBS at the same time as Cuse. Those of us in the south will be suffering. I figure I will be buying that alternate CBS package from DirecTV and missing SNY and MASN.

Not to worry. Once the tournament starts, our early round games will probably be on TruTV.

The previous week CBS left the Georgetown-Villanova game early with about 2 minutes left in North Carolina and made sure we sent to the start of the Missouri-Kansas game I guess we weren't on the same level as that game.

The last time I watched that channel was last March...well better than going to a sports bar with no sound

Besides all that, CBS is barely watchable for hoops. Must get used to it for the dance though. There is absolutely no flow to the game from a viewer's standpoint, every whistle seemingly goes to commercial. In the last 2 minutes, they will cut away several times to make a buck. I know we all have our qualms with the WWL, but they still know how to deliver a telecast - staying in the arena for 30 second timeouts so you can get the feel of the environment, recapping the game and talking strategy, etc. You get none of that from C"BS"

In Minneapolis, we had the UCLA / Washington game go significantly long. Some of that isn't CBS's fault. There were numerous fouls at the end of the game that slowed things down. Plus, both coaches were liberally calling timeouts.

When UCLA was up 4 with 4.something seconds left, the Washington coach fouled [not sure why]. Then UCLA called a timeout--meanwhile, it was now close to 3:15, so my urge to kill was going through the roof at that point.

The thing that pissed me off that CBS was responsible for was that after the Pac-10 game ended, instead of cutting to SU / Louisville, they went to commercial. Literally six commercials, that took at least five more minutes. By the time the telecast came on, we were around the 16 minute mark, and then based upon game action [I think Fab got fouled or something], they literally went to commercial 10 seconds later after finally cutting to the game.

This was my favorite part. What the hell was the point of that? Not to mention it was Fab's goaltend so it just made me more pissed off.

I think the last 4 minutes of that LSU/Auburn game lasted about a half-hour. Hack, hack, hack. Timeout, timeout, timeout.

My local stations understandably stayed with the UCLA game, and switched over when the score was 5-2. What really stuck in my craw was how ESPN pimped the Dook-UNC game, complete with an extensive pre-game hype, player instructions (including Senior Day), and even singing of the National Anthem (which for better or worse, is almost never shown).

Had the same problem as Swish in Ohio. I could forgive them for the other game running long, but could not fathom how they could run commercials while the SU game was live.

Absolutely agree. The WWL can make a mid season Patriot league game feel like a watershed moment in college hoops. With CBS there is no respect for the gameday environment.

I hope another broadcaster outbids CBS for rights to the NCAAT one of these years.

Great on CBS in Syracuse, No problems
It's a contractual thing. Because we're in Syracuse, CBS can switch to the SU game. In the south, they're contractually obligated to show SEC games in their entirety. I agree it's ridiculous, but the same thing happens in CNY for Bills, Jets, and Giants games. If one of those is on and it's a blowout but another game is a fantastic finish, they won't switch.

Here in NJ I was shocked when CBS pulled the plug with 40 seconds to go and a 2 point game in the ucla game. ESPN never switches over early
