Fellas, I BELIEVE this is the year that will be the genesis and momentum eventually bringing us the 8 team playoff. My prediction:

1. Bama
2. UGA
3. OSU
4. Clemson

That said, sooooo many arguments and scenarios that can and might play out with:

Whisky
OU
OSU
Wash
ND

This is fun...

OSU, second as Oklahoma St.

If both UGA and Bama get in as well as ND, there will be no doubt expansion will occur fast.

I agree, leaving out the B10 champ again, ND has that subjective advantage. Intriguing conversation.

I can understand if and only if they play a classic game in the SEC championship game, within a td.

AGAIN, this is the year where a clear top 4 are not there and a huge fanbase or 2 gets left out which = $$$$. THAT, will get the NCAA'S ATTENTION;);)

2 ACC and 2 SEC. Fun times

1 pseudo ACC. Until they play 8 ACC games a year in one of the two divisions, they are still a football independent. They need to join the conference full time and hopefully will when their NBC deal expires.

Well if Georgia and Bama win out until a title game ... they're both getting in.

The big question is "what happens if ND gets jumped by Ohio State after conference championship weekend?."

Clemson + Alabama + Ohio State + Georgia/Oklahoma

I'd imagine that would be a big slap in the face for ND.

This is very likely IMO as th3 B1G is not going to be left out. To much politics but OSU will have a spot in the end. ND doesn’t play in a Conference Championship game and that will be. Used against them on why they are out.

if every one does their job

alabama wins over Auburn/Ga/LSU/MSu2
Ga win over nd/msu2/aub/ala
1 of these wont happen
if one gets blown out the other is left with 1 good win between them if teams fall apart

ND wins over USC/Stan/MSU loss to GA
might end up with no wins over teams with less than 4 losses

Clem wins over VT/Aub/NC st/(miami/vt)
will end up with probably 1-2 wins over a 1-2 loss team

OSU win over PSU/Wisc/MSU loss to OK
probably ends up to 2 wins over 1-2 loss teams

OK win over OSU/OSU2/TCU/ISU and loss to ISU
could end up with 2-3 wins over 1-2 loss teams

PSU wins over MSU
might have no wins over a team with less than 4 losses.

really not a ton separating these teams.. auburn might be a 4 loss team. LSU might be a 4 loss team, Mich St might be a 4 loss team, Miss St might be a 4 loss team, NC st might be a 4 loss team who knows on USC/Stan

Really rooting for Notre Dame to lose so they get left out.
If ND gets in the playoff they will never join the ACC. The only reason they ever join the ACC is if they believe the only way they can get in besides going undefeated is to win the ACC conference championship. If they get in this year, they will never join the ACC or any other conference. There would be no need.

Objectively, Alabama has the worst schedule (so far) in the Top 10. Shouldn't they be below Wiscy and Miami? Just sayin.....

Even if they don’t get in, they still won’t join a conference.

Playoff expansion is coming at some point. As soon as it gets to an 8-team playoff then there’s no need for them to join.

It would be awkward for them to join and then drop out a few years later. It’s easier for them to simply wait it out.

Alabama's current SOS: 38
Wisconsin's current SOS: 62
Miami's current SOS: 35
